Adán Gorozpe es un arribista, y lo reconoce sin ambages. Un día, Góngora le propone a Gorozpe coludirse para elevar su jueguito al más alto nivel público: "Todos los políticos están quemados. Son inútiles. No saben gobernar. Quizás la obra de Fuentes en la que el realismo mágico aparece de manera más exacerbada en historias que van desde la sencillez de la pincelada descriptiva de la muerte, la vida o el amor (en Constancia) hasta un tríptico español de toros y teatro con el nexo incongruente y atemporal de Goya. No se busque aquí una narración anodina o complaciente, sino trazos mezclados que nos presentan, en ocasiones, excelentes resultados descriptivos.
