The Cac Boomerang

release date: Sep 01, 2024
The Cac Boomerang
The CAC Boomerang has a unique place in Australian aviation history, being the nation's only home designed and produced fighter. The design was born in dark days at the start of the Pacific War when the RAAF possessed not a single modern fighter and the southwards onslaught of Japanese forces seemed unstoppable. The single seat Boomerang owed its origins to the Wirraway two seat general purpose aircraft produced by the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation in Melbourne. Because of existing Wirraway production, a Boomerang prototype flew less than six months after the design was conceived - a remarkable achievement. Lacking the performance of contemporaries such as America's P-39 and P-40 and Japan's Zero, the Boomerang's subsequent history is chequered. It served with three RAAF home defence squadrons in the fighter interceptor role but had only fleeting, unsuccessful, contact with enemy aircraft. However, the Boomerang found its true niche as an army cooperation aircraft, and the type gave very useful service with Nos. 4 and 5 Squadrons in New Guinea and Bougainville. With hindsight the Boomerang provided an insurance policy if other fighters could not be obtained from the US and Britain. In that role it was successful, and its production maintained a skilled wartime workforce at the CAC factory. This is the first stand-alone history of the Boomerang. The author Don Williams examines this unique aircraft and its origins, service and the men that flew it.

Letters for Emily

release date: Oct 28, 2020
Letters for Emily
I had little or no intention of sending this word ship on any world voyage from the outset. The initial writing is based solely on a rekindled fire set forth by my troubled young daughter's unexpected return. The only real purpose from the beginning of these funny taciturn and often scintillating wordplays. Was to lift her spirits and help me to reconnect with a child I had never really known. Somewhere along this path, this collection of stories and letters took on a life of their own. Excerpt from Stone bluff Freddy; The kaleidoscope abandoned on the ground. Father and son silhouetted against the dusky gray of the old barn. The slap of ball in mitt. The buzzing of uninterested honey bee's, offset by the gentle gurgle of the nearby creek. The minute's counted the hours that gave way to clock face shadows. When pulled from the deep waters of light and quiet lucidity- two words; Suppertime! I genuinely believe this book could forever change those brave souls willing to take the journey. This statement may seem an emphatic assertion. But since I was transformed during the living of it and yet again during the relating of it. How could I wish anything less for my fellow sojourner? Soul illumination always comes with a price. So I pray an excellent blood soaking of the fertile ground of your imagination. May it then bring forth a bumper crop of light laughter and spirit dancing courage to jump you over the flames of all life's sorrow and madness, leaving you safe in the arms of truth. So profound and unwavering. You can almost taste the hot chocolate on that first Christmas morning of your nine-year-old self. Letter's For Emily By D. F. When you reach a certain state within your business, you may begin to wonder, "Where does it go from here?" Many people are not prepared for the next evolution of their lives. For example, when a person goes from running a business to retiring, or from the CEO to a board advisory role, dramatic shifts occur. To prepare for your legacy to live on without you, you need to set it up so that it is rock solid from the get-go. You are going to see why it is easier to plan for your BIG legacy than it is to play small. But first, why is it important to build a big legacy? You only get one life, and you want to play the game well. You want to finish empty, with no gas left in the tank. I doubt if you want to either. You want to do everything you could have done during your lifetime. You want to achieve everything you were capable of achieving. In this book, we're going to be asking some tough questions. Let's start here. What would it feel like to work in your career for 20 - even 30 - years and not leave a big legacy? People who have not gone all-out with their dreams are leaving a part of themselves unexplored. Teddy Roosevelt said: "The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred by the dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly"... I truly believe that people feel shame, waste, failure, or regret if they don't go all out. You can't lie to yourself very well, can you? You know if you're not fulfilling your legacy. You cannot hide from it. It is one of those things that you can't ignore, a big thing that will eat away at you day, after day, after day. You can't lie to the person in the mirror. There is no hiding there. If you're content living within your comfort zone, you already know there's more for you outside of it. By picking up this book, you have proven that you are ready to look at yourself in the mirror and say, "Okay. No more hiding. No more pretending. I know I'm here to play a bigger game." This journey is the one journey where you're going to put it all on the table. There's no turning back now. This book will give you simple steps that guide you to the fastest, clearest, and most accurate path for building your big legacy. You are going to create the legacy of your dreams. It has always been inside of you, waiting for you to stand up and claim it as your own.

Signs, Wonders, and the Kingdom of God
Signs Wonders, and the Kingdom of God is a book for anyone who believes in God''s supernatural power but who doubts that we can experience that power personally. This new book presents a fascinating, biblical theology of the Kingdom of God. Williams describes how God works to establish his reign now and in eternity and how we can demonstrate and proclaim, as Jesus did, the supernatural power of his kingdom. Signs, Wonders, and the Kingdom of God investigates the relationship between supernatural power and the ministry of the church today. As a community of love and faith under the reign of God, we continue Jesus'' ministry of power evangelizing the poor, casting out demons, healing the sick, and setting free the captives.

The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit

release date: Dec 09, 2002
The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit
When New Testament writers mention God''s pledge to grant his Holy Spirit, their words depict more than just a simple promise to make available his comfort. Rather, they describe a nonrefundable down payment on all the blessings of heaven and a commitment that God will never abandon us until he has completed his work in our lives. In ''The Person and Work of the Holy Spirit'', Donald T. Williams presents a comprehensive study of the Holy Spirit, helping readers answer their most pressing questions about the Holy Spirit, including: ÓIs the Holy Spirit working today? ÓHow can I recognize gifts of the Holy Spirit in my life?Ó ÓWhat about speaking in tongues?Ó ÓHow do I know my life is sealed by the Holy Spirit?Ó ÓHow can I identify true assurance of salvation from the Holy Spirit?Ó With its readable style, chapter summaries, ideas for practical application, and questions for further reading, this book is an excellent guide for serious personal or group study of the Holy Spirit. If you are considering serious study of the Holy Spirit - at any level - start with this book.
