Children’s pastors, youth pastors, and volunteers play an essential role in churches and faith-based organizations. However, many people enter paid or volunteer ministry with limited professional training on how to work specifically with challenging children and teens, which can lead to ineffectiveness, disillusionment, and burnout. Presbyvestibulopathy (PVP), a diagnosis established in 2019, is a vestibular dysfunction or loss related to aging characterized by mild bilateral vestibular deficits, chronic dizziness, unsteadiness, gait disturbance, and/or recurrent falls. All peripheral sensory functions decline with age, and the population is aging. Consequently, older adults may experience decreased physical activity, performance, and social participation, falls, poorer quality of life, and cognitive decline. Occupational therapy (OT) plays a vital role in social participation, healthy aging, fall prevention, improving fall-related efficacy, environmental and activity modification, compensatory training, and rehabilitation with older adults to improve occupational performance and participation in daily activities. Despite the potential impact of PVP on occupational performance and participation in meaningful activities, limited literature exists on the topic. Further, potential efficacious interventions for age-related vestibular loss fall within the occupational therapy scope of practice. This capstone intends to utilze evidence relevant to OT to contribute to an understanding of PVP and the potential role of OT in recognizing, assessing, and treating patients with age-related vestibular loss. The Person Environment Occupation Performance (PEOP) model is proposed as a holistic and comprehensive framework to improve occupational performance and well-being in older adults impacted by vestibular dysfunction.

The student''s task is to develop a comprehensive strategy for Briggs & Stratton, which is facing severe competition and margin pressures. A major component of the strategy to be considered is whether to implement economic value added (EVA) as a new performance measurement for management. The case is designed to serve as an introduction to how to compute and use EVA. It emphasizes the importance of performance evaluation as part of a larger strategic plan. A wide and rich body of literature has identified the family as the key context influencing children''s development. In response, school districts and policymakers have sought to engage parents in children''s learning, particularly low-income families. Meta-analyses conclude that efforts to engage low-income parents do improve students'' academic achievement. Such research has prompted developers of some school-based preventive interventions to integrate programming components targeted at students'' parents. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) programs are one such type of school-based preventive intervention. SEL programs aim to improve children''s social-emotional competencies (behavioral regulation, attentional skills, problem-solving, social skills), in order to support their academic development. This paper examines the parenting component of INSIGHTS into Children''s Temperament, an SEL program that includes a manualized curriculum for teachers, students, and parents. Results from a randomized trial revealed that INSIGHTS improved students'' achievement and sustained attention, and reduced their disruptive behaviors. The current study tests whether program impacts on low-income urban kindergarten and first grade students'' academic, social-emotional, and behavioral outcomes differed by levels of parent participation. This study took place in 22 low-income urban public elementary schools. Ninety-one percent of participating children were age five or six when they enrolled in the study. Eleven schools were randomized to INSIGHTS; the remaining eleven schools were assigned to the attention-control condition. Previous research on school-based preventive interventions has typically found that more program dosage--at multiple levels--is associated with larger gains for students. Yet, the results of this study suggest that the dosage story in the INSIGHTS evaluation may be more nuanced than has been previously understood in literature on school-based interventions. The work concludes with the position that corporations are shaping children to be efficient consumers but, in return, are harming their developing young minds and physical well-being.

This study explored the lived experience of synchronicity (meaningful coincidence) arising within the context of bereavement. The research question asked was: What is the essence of experiencing a personally meaningful coincidence while coping with the death of a loved one? Participants were over the age of 18 and bereaved no less than 6 months. The study utilized phenomenological methods to arrive at a description of the essence of participants'' experience of meaningful coincidences related to dead loved ones.

This book explodes this myth, challenging mental health professionals and families to engage in genuine dialogue with people who are developmentally disabled.

This study reveals Hassan to be a pioneer in the urbanization of Arabic poetry and a precursor to the poets of the later `Abbasid caliphate who replaced the desert themes and motifs prevalent in pre-Islamic poetry with those more appropriate to their urban environments. Hassan''s compositions demonstrate not only a familiarity with the urban landscape of the Ghassanids but also a clear disdain for the pastoral lifestyle of the Arab nomads. Hassan''s urbanism is one illustration of his status as a mukhadram. This study also examines the wine lyric within Hassan''s Ghassanid poetry. The poet''s verses in praise of wine date from both the pre-Islamic and the Islamic periods and are further evidence of Hassan''s embodiment of the mukhadram predicament.
