New Releases by Joan Hewett

Tara is a tiger cub. What is it like to grow up in a wild animal park? If you look closely, you will discover how Tara grows from a tiny newborn cub to a pouncing, full-grown tiger there. Beginning readers will delight in watching Tara as she gets her first tooth, takes her first swim, and plays with other tigers.

Hop! Hop! Hop! There goes Kipper! He's a kangaroo joey, and if you watch closely you can see him grow from a tiny pink joey the size of a pea to a hopping kangaroo. Explore Kipper's world as he sleeps, eats, and goes on his first trip alone.

Obie is a penguin chick. He is growing up in a zoo on Tuxedo Island. Obie's father feeds him digested fish. He shuffles his heavy webbed feet and waddles. When he's older, he grows new feathers that keep him dry as he learns how to swim.

Mel is a koala joey. She is growing up in a park in Australia. She likes to ride on her mother's belly. In less than a year, she grows from a tiny pink baby living in her mother's pouch into a full-grown, eucalyptus-leaf-eating koala.
