A Murder...Plus

release date: Jan 20, 2026
A Murder...Plus
In Jim Scott Book #44, A MURDER...PLUS, a very wealthy woman is found dead in her home. Frank Sansone, a Detective Lieutenant of the Utah Department of Public Safety winds up handling the case, after the Park City Utah Chief of Police asks for the states help. In talking to an employee of the dead lady, who found the body, it is soon determined that there are at least three prime suspects, none of whom turned out to be the killer. One of those suspects once had a rather long relationship with Frank, but they hadn't seen each for over 14 years. When he tracked her down, sparks flew, and they both soon stated they regretted the end of the relationship...problem solved in no time. In one of those strange twists of fate, they go to breakfast together the following day, and on seeing there were no empty tables, were about to leave. But Jim Scott, sitting a table for four with his wife Holly, saw their dilemma, and stood up, and by hand signals invited them to join him and his wife. Before their meals were eaten, Holly took the lady under her wing to help her plan a wedding, and Jim joined Frank in the hunt for the murderer. During the hunt, when Jim and Frank were joined in the hunt by Jim's longtime friend, Bob Becker, while Bob's wife Michelle lends a hand to Holly's project, the body of one of the two thiefs is found, and soon connected to the robbery. It is determined that that man was the one who had done an unthinkable thing to the body of the victim of the murder, after her death. The hunters use that to their advantage as they publicly blame the other thief for the deed of the dead man...the intent being to get inside the still living thief's head, and cause him to make mistakes. While all this is going on, Holly is having breakfast with her wedding planning partner Michelle and the lady to be married, when she overhears four Chinese men talking at a table nearby. They are speaking in Chinese, and during their conversation switch to a different dialect. This presents no problem for Holly, as she understands all of the Chinese dialects. Thus she is able to determine what the men are planning. After relaying that information to Jim, he dispatches Bob and Michelle to deal with the situation. Along the way of the hunt for the living thief, two other terrorists decide they want to end their association with the terrorist movement, and Jim winds up helping them on a new life path. Also, during that time, at a loss for how to find the man they seek, Jim decides to set up Frank and an FBI friend of his as targets for the thief and murderer, so the hunted becomes a hunter. During the hunt, another romance unfolds, and Holly and Michelle have another wedding to plan, though that one takes longer to happen. Holly by then is recovered from a serious fall she took while trying to learn how to ski. Also during the investigation two men at least in part responsible for the murder are dealt with in different, but similar fashion.

Fido

release date: Dec 17, 2022
Fido
Fido is the third book in the nine book "Asps" series, and 12th of the Jim Scott Books. Old friend Arnold Buchanan (from the Tickleton Affair, the fifth book of the "Janitor" series) invents a new item, which "Bear" puts to good use. The team engages various enemies in Colombia, Costa Rica, Pakistan, Mexico, Libya, and Egypt, with a few stopovers along the way. At times they work with Tony Henry of SIS and with the SAS team they often go to war with. As often is the case, Jim Scott and some of the old Janitors team manage to get involved at times. A skilled team can frequently engage the enemy and, in the process, come up with viable intelligence to lead them to the next engagement...or engagements. While it is no secret the Islamist terrorist movement has made inroads into the drug business, efforts to thwart that effort almost always go unnoticed and unreported. Rest assured that efforts by terrorist organizations to do so are being dealt with on a regular basis.

Birth Of The Asps

release date: Dec 12, 2022
Birth Of The Asps
Birth of the Asps is the first book of a new nine-book Asps series, and the tenth book of Jim Scott Books. The plan hatched by Jim Scott with the outgoing President at the end of the Janitor series comes to fruition a few months into the administration of the new President. Even though the "War on Terror" is declared 'over' by the new President, the Asps are formed and immediately set out on a mission to uncover an al-Qaida plot on the island nation of Dominica. Drew Hollins' old friend, "Meat Hook" Calabrese, soon dishes up still another al-Qaida plot that the new team gets involved in. As you will discover, Jim Scott has not exactly "retired." A few of the old Janitors also get involved...for those who thought they might be finished when the Janitors were disbanded. The Asps, the new team formed after the Janitors were disbanded, travels far and wide in search of al-Qaida and other terrorists to destroy. They cover areas east from the United States, as far away as Pakistan, all the way back to areas south of the United States, with several stops along the way. In this book, they start out on a mission to the island nation of Dominica...a quiet, peaceful nation, whose leaders are wont to dally with such nations as China.

The Saltwater Connection

release date: Oct 13, 2022
The Saltwater Connection
With the team now two-plus years into its activities, and the build-up to the beginning of Operation Iraqi Freedom going on, the Janitors embark on a far flung mission to thwart more evil deeds by al-Qaida...and Hamas. In this book, The Saltwater Connection, Janitors Book #6, the line-up of the Janitors--as formed in Baghdad Butcher and refined in Back to Iraq--changes somewhat. We lose one of the members of the team and add three new ones, Dan and Janet Orf from Dog Pound, Toboggan, and The Tickleton Affair, as well as a new character from this book. It is a well-known fact that many of the Islamist Terrorists of various stripes assist others of their ilk whenever possible. In this book, we have al-Qaida and Hamas working together in a white slavery operation...showing again that nothing is too deep a depth for these sickos to engage in.

release date: Dec 31, 2012
Soldier: The Autobiography
General Sir Mike Jackson''s illustrious career in the British Army has spanned almost 45 years and all that time he has shown loyalty, courage and commitment to the British army whilst also being an undeniable media attraction. A man of substance where foreign policy is concerned, he has served in theatres from the Artic to the jungle but is perhaps best known for his role in charge of the British troops to end ethnic cleansing in Kosovo, for assembling the British ground component of the coalition that toppled the Taliban, for equipping and organising the army we dispatched to defeat in Iraq and for re-organising the British army with aplomb. His drive, enthusiasm and dominating personality were always popular with his soldiers and drove him right to the top of his profession. He may have been a general but he never stopped caring about the men and women in his charge, despite the politics. Soldier: The Autobiography exhibits all the qualities for which Jackson is admired; his professionalism, his honesty, his directness, his exuberance and his sense of humour. Most of all it gives a vivid sense of what modern soldiering entails.

M4 Sights Guide

release date: Jan 01, 2005
M4 Sights Guide
The third title in this well-received series of guides to the major British motorways. Following the success of the M5 Sights Guide (now put of print) and the M6 Sights Guide (available from all good book shops), Mike Jackson has now travelled, examined and photographed the M4 from end to end - starting north of Swansea and ending at Chiswick flyover. It''s over 200 miles long and has nearly 300 photographed sights. It''s packed with an intriguing exploration of the communities around the carriageway and offers incisive commentary on the culture, businesses, attitudes and environment through which the carriageway passes. Like the previous books, it''s irreverent and avoids replicating the tourist or public relations literature. Instead it reveals little known and often funny facts about the institutions we are passing. What''s going on behind those doors? Which famous people have lived in those big houses? What do they make in that factory? What terrible things have happened in that hotel? What do the guide books never tell you about Windsor Castle? From coal-mining to computers, horses to Heathrow, poverty to affluence. see from the carriageway. Guaranteed to makes journeys along any part or all of the M4 hugely more enlightening.

Naked in Da Nang

release date: Jan 01, 2004
Naked in Da Nang
"In Vietnam forward air controllers (FACs) flew low and slow, searching for signs of an elusive enemy. Often they trolled themselves as bait for the NVA troops to try to shoot down. When a friendly unit made contact, having a FAC overhead made the ground troops'' day because the FACs controlled the bomb-, rocket-, and napalm-laden "fast movers"--fighter jets and attack aircraft whose ordnance often made the difference between life and death. Although regarded by many of their Air Force and Navy aviator brethren as insane, suicidal, or both, FACs ruled the skies over South Vietnam. FAC duty was difficult and dangerous no matter when or where they served. FACs stayed on station as long as they had fuel sufficient to make it home. In addition to the perils of enemy fire which ranged from lucky AK-47 shots to .51 caliber machine guns and SA-7 shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles, they had to avoid being blown up in a B-52 Arc-Light strike or knocked down by friendly artillery. This was Mike Jackson''s life for 366 days. In spring of 1972 he hugged the DMZ fighting back against the massive NVA attack that became know as the Easter Offensive. H also was part of the around-the-clock team of FACs who managed the rescue of BAT-21, immortalized in the Gene Hackman-Danny Glover movie of the same name. As the title suggests, however, Naked in Da Nang is not an angst ridden account of mortal combat. Following in the footsteps of Richard Hooker''s classic M*A*S*H: A Novel About Three Army Doctors, author Jackson has a keen eye for the absurdities that abound in a combat zone. That the humor is often dark only serves to sharpen its comic edge."--Publisher''s description.
