Graceful Narratives
Examining works by Chaucer, Julian of Norwich, and William Langland, Graceful Narratives demonstrates that when medieval authors wrote about grace, they often produced expanded narratives that disrupted time's flow and opened possibilities for second chances and alternative outcomes.

Pulse
Some connections aren't logical. They aren't safe. And once they start¿ they refuse to stop. When their paths cross, it doesn't feel like coincidence. It feels like gravity. Like something deeper pulling two strangers into the same orbit whether they're ready for it or not. What begins as a spark quickly becomes something far more dangerous - an undeniable pull that neither of them fully understands but neither of them can ignore. Because the truth is, some people don't just enter your life. They change the rhythm of it. Every glance lingers a little too long. Every moment together feels heavier than it should. And every attempt to walk away only proves one thing: Distance doesn't weaken what's between them. It only makes it stronger. But the kind of connection they share doesn't come without consequences. Secrets surface. Walls begin to crack. And the deeper they fall, the harder it becomes to separate love from obsession¿ devotion from destruction. Because when two souls collide this intensely, the question isn't whether they'll feel it. The question is whether they'll survive it. Some love stories whisper. This one pulses.

The Hegemon's Tool Kit

release date: Jul 15, 2022
The Hegemon's Tool Kit
At a moment when the nuclear nonproliferation regime is under duress, Rebecca Davis Gibbons provides a trenchant analysis of the international system that has, for more than fifty years, controlled the spread of these catastrophic weapons. The Hegemon's Tool Kit details how that regime works and how, disastrously, it might falter. In the early nuclear age, experts anticipated that all technologically-capable states would build these powerful devices. That did not happen. Widespread development of nuclear arms did not occur, in large part, because a global nuclear nonproliferation regime was created. By the late-1960s, the United States and the Soviet Union had drafted the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), and across decades the regime has expanded, with more agreements and more nations participating. As a result, in 2022, only nine states possess nuclear weapons. Why do most states in the international system adhere to the nuclear nonproliferation regime? The answer lies, Gibbons asserts, in decades of painstaking efforts undertaken by the US government. As the most powerful state during the nuclear age, the United States had many tools with which to persuade other states to join or otherwise support nonproliferation agreements. The waning of US global influence, Gibbons shows in The Hegemon's Tool Kit, is a key threat to the nonproliferation regime. So, too, is the deepening global divide over progress on nuclear disarmament. To date, the Chinese government is not taking significant steps to support the nuclear nonproliferation regime, and as a result, the regime may face a harmful leadership gap.

Rock Bottom and Faithless
Being separated from my abusive husband didn’t make me a domestic violence survivor. It surely didn’t release me from the grip of his brainwashing control and the innate power he had over me. As I started putting my shattered life back together after being separated from my abuser, I still felt his compelling control shaping my every thought and action. I didn’t feel like a domestic violence survivor just because I was no longer with my abuser. In fact, I felt like a remotely-controlled, confused puppet still shaken by residual influences in my mind. In order to become a true survivor, knowing that the thoughts in my head were mine, I had to: · Identify the deeply rooted lies of my abuser that I believed were true · Extract the lies · Lean on God’s strength to defeat the lies and replace them with His word · Acknowledge that the trauma experienced from the abuse left physical and emotional scars that needed to be furthered explored Eleven years later, being a domestic violence survivor means being free and open to living again. It means I am open to making decisions, building trusting relationships again, and eventually feeling love again. It means that the thoughts in my head are mine and mine only. With the emotional abuse removed from my mind, God’s grace and love have taken over. It's a calmness and peace I never thought possible.

Life in the Iron-Mills
Before Women Had Rights, They Worked - Regardless. Life in the Iron Mills is a short story (or novella) written by Rebecca Harding Davis in 1861, set in the factory world of the nineteenth century. It is one of the earliest American realist works, and is an important text for those who study labor and women's issues. It was immediately recognized as an innovative work, and introduced American readers to "the bleak lives of industrial workers in the mills and factories of the nation." Reviews: Life in the Iron Mills was initially published in The Atlantic Monthly, Vol. 0007, Issue 42 in April 1861. After being published anonymously, both Emily Dickinson and Nathaniel Hawthorne praised the work. Elizabeth Stuart Phelps Ward was also greatly influenced by Davis's Life in the Iron Mills and in 1868 published in The Atlantic Monthly"The Tenth of January," based on the 1860 fire at the Pemberton Mills in Lawrence, Massachusetts. About the Author: Rebecca Harding Davis (June 24, 1831-September 29, 1910; born Rebecca Blaine Harding) was considered one of the nation's first social historians and pioneering literary artists. Throughout her lifetime, Harding Davis sought to effect social change for blacks, women, Native Americans, immigrants, and the working class, by intentionally writing about the plight of these marginalized groups in the 19th century.Throughout her long career, Davis challenged traditional subjects and older styles of writing. Her family lived briefly in Big Springs, Alabama, before moving in 1837 to Wheeling, Virginia (now West Virginia), on the Ohio River. Its iron mills and immigrant populations inspired the setting of Life in the Iron Mills.

Supervision for Practicing Genetic Counselors: Exploration of Feasibility and the Creation of Guidelines
Genetic counseling is a process that incorporates education and counseling principles. The literature suggests that there are fewer well-established mechanisms to maintain counseling skills. We used a combination of qualitative methods---focus groups, telephone interviews, and email questionnaires---to ascertain genetic counselors' views on professional development of psychosocial counseling skills. Specifically, we asked if supervision was considered a useful tool for continued postgraduate professional development of counseling skills by practicing genetic counselors. Data gathered during this study have been translated into supervision feasibility guidelines in an effort to promote the continued use of this practice for the improvement of professional skills.

A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO USING LEARNING STYLES IN MATH INSTRUCTION

release date: Jan 01, 1994
A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO USING LEARNING STYLES IN MATH INSTRUCTION
Although much attention has been given to the use of learning styles in the general curriculum and in teaching students to read., the use of learning styles-based instruction in the mathematics classroom has received limited attention. Therefore, the purpose of this book is to address the improvement of mathematics instruction through the use of learning styles-based instruction. Its goals are to give the reader an understanding of learning styles-based instruction in mathematics, of effective use of manipulatives in teaching various concepts at all grade levels, of ways to develop spatial reasoning skills in students, of different activities which accommodate a variety of learning styles, and of authentic assessment in mathematics. The book presents the use of learning styles-based instruction as a powerful strategy which teachers can and should use with the result that teaching will be more effective, less remediation will be necessary, and the overall mathematics curriculum will be enhanced.
