About the Book Through a rough period of depression, author Sarah Porter-Liddell wrote and expressed all she felt within this collection on survival; she writes real and raw emotions that we don’t often get to see from black women experiencing during depression. As her depression lifted, Liddell became more reflective on her past and in her current work, she aims to provide a deeper look into the mind of one Black woman on a journey through pain, love, and anger. John William McLure (1831-1916) lived in Union County, South Carolina with his wife, Jane Catherine Poulton (1829-1912). John was a farmer in Union County most of his life. He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War and later participated in community affairs. John and Catherine were the parents of nine children, all born in Union County. Descendants live in South carolina and other parts of the United States.

Members of the McLure family emigrated from Scotland in the late 1600s and settled in County Antrim, Ireland. John McClure emigrated from Ireland in 1767 and settled in South Carolina. He married Ann McCracken and they were the parents of five children. Descendants live in South Carolina.
