The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (Wisehouse Classics Edition)
Thomas "Tom" Sawyer is the title character of the Mark Twain novel THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER (1876). He appears in three other novels by Twain: ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN (1884), TOM SAWYER ABROAD (1894), and TOM SAWYER, DETECTIVE (1896). Sawyer also appears in at least three unfinished Twain works, HUCK AND TOM AMONG THE INDIANS, SCHOOLHOUSE HILL and TOM SAWYER'S CONSPIRACY. While all three uncompleted works were posthumously published, only Tom Sawyer's Conspiracy has a complete plot, as Twain abandoned the other two works after finishing only a few chapters.

The fictional character's name may have been derived from a jolly and flamboyant fireman named Tom Sawyer with whom Twain was acquainted in San Francisco, California, while Twain was employed as a reporter at the San Francisco Call. Twain used to listen to Sawyer tell stories of his youth, "Sam, he would listen to these pranks of mine with great interest and he'd occasionally take 'em down in his notebook. One day he says to me: 'I am going to put you between the covers of a book some of these days, Tom.' 'Go ahead, Sam,' I said, 'but don't disgrace my name.' " Twain himself said the character sprang from three people, later identified as: John B. Briggs (who died in 1907), William Bowen (who died in 1893) and Twain; however Twain later changed his story saying Sawyer was fully formed solely from his imagination, but as Robert Graysmith says, "The great appropriator liked to pretend his characters sprang fully grown from his fertile mind." (more at

A centuries-old organization within the tiny town of Grayson protects many secrets - from unknown scientific discoveries to the truth about the mythical island of Atlantis, along with information that ties it to historical events from around the world.

Thirteen-year-old Adam McTaggart and his wise-cracking friends have always assumed that Grayson is just another boring small town on the prairie, but the destruction of a nearby town and disappearance of all of its residents forces them to believe they might also be in danger.

What Readers are Saying:

"Never before have I enjoyed, nor anticipated a series this great since Harry Potter ... I have devoured each book in this series so quickly that I get a little sad as I reach the ending! Thankfully, there is more in store for Adam and his pals, and I will be (im)patiently waiting their next adventure!" - Becky

"...I'm an avid reader and often get bored with the the same old stories over and over. This book was refreshing in its original plot. Was enjoyable to read." - Josh Hochman

"...Excellent story / read from start to finish. good pace and characters. Best part is that there is closure at the end - even though this is a series." - Thomas DiMarino

“I love a good story with adventure and suspense and no foul language! Perfect story for teen boys especially. Can't wait to read part 2!” - Darlene Yaz

“Five stars! Great story, full of twists, full of action. It's quite long, I thought it would get slow after a while, but that was not the case. It was keeping me on my toes all the way to the end. A must read!” - Atilla Beno

“I read a lot, but not much what I would consider science fiction. The exception being Robert Heinlein, I would compare this book to his early books for teens. Best compliment I could give.” - Amazon Customer

“Exciting and well written. The dialog was natural and the characters were well developed. I liked the way the author wove several historical events into the story. Overall it was a very good science fiction story and I will probably read more of the books in this series.” - Jim Sibigtroth

Author Interview

So, what makes the Viking’s Apprentice series so special?
It’s a number of things that have come together and worked out very well. I wanted to write children’s books that reminded me of the classics children’s best sellers when I was young. I loved the Eyes of the Dragon, by Stephen King and The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien. These were stories that were written for younger readers with a more grown up approach. The Viking’s Apprentice series mirrors this and takes children on a fantasy adventure they will never forget.
The classic good versus evil battle that runs through the series is something readers have really loved. I also get a lot of positive comments about the fast paced nature of the adventure. All 4 books take place over the course of about a week.
The fact that we have young heroes, both boys and girls, throughout the fantasy series gives readers someone to relate to.
Why should readers give your books a try?
The Viking’s Apprentice is an original adventure story for children, and older readers, that takes them on an unforgettable journey. It brings in magic, dragons, witches and of course Viking’s into a modern day setting that will have readers turning the pages and asking for just one more chapter before lights out.
The readers at Goodreads have voted The Viking’s Apprentice No. 1 in Smart novels to read to your kids, Books for Boys who Hate Reading and Scottish Fiction. When you consider those lists include Harry Potter, The Hobbit, Enders game, Percy Jackson and other great stories it’s an amazing endorsement.
The series has also scored 23 genre number 1’s across Amazon best seller lists. When The Viking’s Apprentice was made free for 24 hours it was downloaded 26000 times making it the most downloaded children’s kindle book in the world that day.
What formats can we buy the books in?
You can buy the books through Amazon on Kindle, paperback and audio book. Amazon are now selling the series as a box set. Check out my Amazon author page for details.
