Go the F**k to Sleep
"Nothing has driven home a certain truth about my generation, which is approaching the apex of its childbearing years, quite like this."
--The New Yorker

"A parenting zeitgeist"
--Washington Post

"A hilarious take on that age-old problem: getting the beloved child to go to sleep."
--National Public Radio

"A new Bible for weary parents"
--New York Times

"Resonates powerfully with almost everyone"
--Boston Globe

"Go the F*** to Sleep challenges stereotypes, opens up prototypes, and acknowledges that shared sense of failure that comes to all parents who weary of ever getting their darling(s) to sleep and briefly resuming the illusion of a life of their own."
--Midwest Book Review

Go the F*** to Sleep is a bedtime book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don't always send a toddler sailing blissfully off to dreamland. Profane, affectionate, and radically honest, California Book Award-winning author Adam Mansbach's verses perfectly capture the familiar--and unspoken--tribulations of putting your little angel down for the night. In the process, they open up a conversation about parenting, granting us permission to admit our frustrations, and laugh at their absurdity.

With illustrations by Ricardo Cortes, Go the F*** to Sleep is beautiful, subversive, and pants-wettingly funny--a book for parents new, old, and expectant. You probably should not read it to your children.

Seriously, Just Go to Sleep, a children's book inspired by Go the F*** to Sleep and appropriate for kids of all ages, is also available, as well as Seriously, You Have to Eat for finicky ones everywhere!

The Sh!t No One Tells You: A Guide to Surviving Your Baby's First Year
A laugh-out-loud guide to the first year of motherhood, filled with helpful advice and wisdom from real moms and dads who aren't at all afraid to tell it like it is

There comes a time in every new mother's life when she finds herself staring at her screaming, smelly "bundle of joy" and wishing someone had told her that her house would reek of vomit, or that she shouldn't buy the cute onesies with a thousand impossible buttons, or that she might cry more than the baby.

Best-selling author Dawn Dais, mother of two tiny terrors, is convinced that there is a reason for this lack of preparedness. She believes that a vast conspiracy exists to hide the horrific truth about parenting from doe-eyed expectant mothers who might otherwise abandon their babies in hospitals and run for it. Eschewing the adorableness that oozes out of other parenting books, Dais offers real advice from real moms-along with hilarious anecdotes, clever tips, and the genuine encouragement every mom needs in order to survive the first year of parenthood. The Sh!t No One Tells You is a must-have companion for every new mother's sleepless nights and poop-filled days.

Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir
The #1 New York Times bestselling (mostly true) memoir from the hilarious author of Furiously Happy.

“Gaspingly funny and wonderfully inappropriate.”—O, The Oprah Magazine

When Jenny Lawson was little, all she ever wanted was to fit in. That dream was cut short by her fantastically unbalanced father and a morbidly eccentric childhood. It did, however, open up an opportunity for Lawson to find the humor in the strange shame-spiral that is her life, and we are all the better for it.

In the irreverent Let’s Pretend This Never Happened, Lawson’s long-suffering husband and sweet daughter help her uncover the surprising discovery that the most terribly human moments—the ones we want to pretend never happened—are the very same moments that make us the people we are today. For every intellectual misfit who thought they were the only ones to think the things that Lawson dares to say out loud, this is a poignant and hysterical look at the dark, disturbing, yet wonderful moments of our lives.

A View From The Hot Tub: Conversations With My Grandson
Grandparents Who Want To See The Grand-kids a Little More Often Should Get a Hot Tub!

A View From The Hot Tub is a collection of stories about my grandson. It's also a larger story about our family, and the positive effects of children, in this case, the impact that Joey, my grandson has had on me.

The first stories appeared online in a series of Facebook posts. This revelation explains the repetition of some of the basics. Elements like the origin of the hot tub, Joey's peculiar habits and my unashamed and repeated praise for my two life coaches, my wife, and a ten-year-old boy.

To my surprise, friends and strangers began commenting. With each new post the numbers grew. There's something about a kid who repeatedly out-smarts the adults in the room that triggers a laugh. I knew this - Laura and I were the first two laughing.

Still, the public response was a major surprise. Joseph DiMaggio Mallory stands out in a crowd. Of course he does, he's my grandson. Not that I'm unique, but after all the years, all the time that passed while I wasn't watching the calendar, I'm a grandparent, the stereotypical variety. Quick to give eye-rolls to others who got here before me, now I get it - totally.

Everyone knows that parents and grandparents think their kids are the smartest ever born. The ten, now twelve-year-old who allowed us to join him in our hot tub took the, Brightest Kid Ever Born, title to another level. What happened there, things said in the hot tub were just too good to stay in the tub.

I'm still, and will probably always be amazed by the depth and originality of Joey's insight. When he's around I find myself wondering what will happen next. That might seem like a lot to lay on a kid. But hey, he started it! Maybe someday he will read this book and chuckle. I'm hoping that everyone who reads it gets a laugh; hoping all will experience something like the feeling Laura and I had while we were living these stories - a mixture of amazement and anticipation.

Mike Mallory - August 2018

**********************

I've known Mike as a friend and fellow prankster. I've known Mike, the musician, through the eyes of his fans and our mutual friends. The point being that our multi-faceted friendship provided the perspective and latitude required for me to fill in and expand on Mike's original, shorter stories. As now, without a side-by-side comparison, neither he nor I are sure which one of us wrote what.

Being a parent and a grandparent, caring for and enjoying life with and through the lives of those we love, this is the obvious story and point of the book. Knowing ourselves, becoming comfortable with what life and others bring to us, or throw at us, what happens inside as we learn to look beyond ourselves - this is another perspective that made A View From The HotTub  worth writing.

One or the other, or somewhere between, readers will find their own reasons for enjoying the characters, their conversations, the antics of life in the Mallory household.

In our younger years we were as full of ourselves as any two young guys could be. We thought we would never grow old. We still don't.

Mike and I used to think that, “any day now” we would have everything figured out. We assumed that if not already, then soon, we'd be wise enough to teach the children in our lives - anyone, for that matter - lessons for which they would be grateful. Now we see things differently. Even so, as Mike is about to tell you, it's all turned out better than he ever expected.

Dude, You're Gonna Be a Dad!: How to Get (Both of You) Through the Next 9 Months
There are approximately 3,712 ways for a guy to look stupid during pregnancy - this book's here to help you avoid all(most) of them. And here's your first hint: Focus on what you can be doing for her rather than what's happening to her.

She's pregnant. She knows that. You know that. And her 152 baby books tell her exactly what she can expect. Your job is to learn what you can do between the stick turning blue and the drive to the delivery room to make the next nine months go as smoothly as possible. That's where John Pfeiffer steps in.

Like any good coach, he's been through it. He's dealt with the morning sickness and doctor visits, painting the baby's nursery and packing the overnight bag, choosing a name, hospital, and the color of the car-seat cover. All the while he remained positive and responsive - there with a "You're beautiful" when necessary - but assertive during the decision-making process (he didn't want to wind up with a kid named Percy). And now it's your turn.

She might be having the baby, but you have plenty of responsibilities.
