Half of the passengers want to survive. The others want a quick and painless end. They have one hour of fuel remaining, and then their choices will be over.

Ships at War (4 Book Series)
From Book 1: The books by Allan A. Murray are noted for their detailed research and historical accuracy. Strong narratives move the reader through military history events that are less well known or not previously written about with multiple layers cleverly integrated to reveal the overall context, the major events and the role of key protagonists. Elements of the rich military heritage of Allan's family have been selectively woven into many of the stories to add depth and emotion.

The Series ‘Ships at War’ details the service of a number of ships from the middle of the 20th Century. The connective thread of the Series is the family members of the author who served aboard these ships during World War II. The Series details the service of the ships HMS Arawa and HMA Ships Nepal, Mildura and Australia as well as the merchant vessels SS Iron Chieftain and Iron Knight. The latter two were sunk during the War by Japanese submarines. The three key protagonists are Bobby Forbes, his brother Arthur Forbes, and George Anderson. The Forbes brothers are paternal great uncles of the author and George Anderson is the maternal grandfather. Between them, they served in every ocean, against every foe and their sea time encompassed every year of the War. All three survived the War.

This book is a detailed description of the service in early World War II of the armed merchant cruiser HMS Arawa. No stranger to drama, for 15 years she transported passengers between Australasia and England amid financial collapses, corporate restructures, route changes and even a name change. At the outbreak of World War II, TSS Arawa was hastily converted to an armed merchant cruiser in Sydney, Australia. With no armour plating, seven 1898-vintage 6-inch guns and a crew of mainly Australian Naval Reservists, this unglamorous warship was dispatched to Hong Kong before serving in the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Her two years of service saw HMS Arawa at the centre of a diplomatic incident between the United Kingdom and Japan; be offered as a sacrificial lamb to German surface raiders and warships hunting Allied merchant vessel convoys; and duel with German and Italian submarines and aircraft in the Battle of the Atlantic. This book tells for the first time the tale of each of these dramas and more. They are indicative of the experience of many of the armed merchant cruisers in World War II.

Zombie Road (2 Book Series)
From Book 1: The first book in a thrilling new series.
The people that tried to kill the world were fiendishly clever.
After decades of planning, the contagion was unleashed and overnight hundreds of millions died and came back as rampaging, undead monsters. The living that had been lucky enough to survive the first day of carnage, lucky enough to be in the right place and lucky enough that some of them had the skills they needed, soon found out there was much more to worry about than just zombies.
In the high desert on the outskirts of Reno, there is an old truck stop frequented by a mix of hard caliber truckers, day tourists, musicians and travelers. They have survived the chaotic first hours of contact with the undead and now must make their way across the country to a location they believe is safe. Zombies are only the beginning of their troubles as they try to cover the thousands of miles of open road with their hastily armored 18-wheelers. Gunny, a long haul trucker doing one of the few jobs available to him as a disgraced soldier, is unwillingly saddled with the job of getting these survivors to the safe zone. With a motley crew of truck drivers, college kids, veterans, a drug dealer and a rock star, they are racing the clock to make it before time runs out. The last text he had received from his wife before the cell towers went down told him she was trapped in a high-rise in downtown Atlanta and their son was in detention, stranded in the basement of the school he attended. Gunny just wanted to drop the hammer, steal some guns and blast his way in to rescue them but duty called. He had to get these people to safety first, then he could recruit the best of this crew to help him save his family. If they survived the journey.

Steaming Into (4 Book Series)
From Book 1: “The tales are a fascinating mix of anecdotes about the working lives of footplate men... readers with a railway bent will find themselves moved. This ebook is incredibly good value for money.” Gauge 0 Guild Gazette

Steaming into the Firing Line is a set of short stories based on and around the railways of North West England during the Second World War.

Humorous and moving, the collection tells the tale of a group of railwaymen during the latter days of the memorable age of steam.

Readers will quickly warm to the book’s characters and will be compelled to read of the day-to-day lives of drivers and firemen, their colleagues and their passengers, during this particularly challenging time in British history.

Author Michael Clutterbuck is himself the son of a railwayman from that era. This is clear from the realism and detail evident throughout the book.

By no means just for steam rail enthusiasts, Steaming into the Firing Line offers an insight into the Second World War from an unusual and interesting vantage point.

“The author’s railway family background ensures that the stories are very realistic – especially in the banter between the, by and large, well-drawn characters! ... even a working engineman couldn’t find too much to fault. Recommended.” Steam Railway magazine

Addison-Wesley Professional Computing Series (2 Book Series)
From Book 1:

“For an engineer determined to refine and secure Internet operation or to explore alternative solutions to persistent problems, the insights provided by this book will be invaluable.”

—Vint Cerf, Internet pioneer

TCP/IP Illustrated, Volume 1, Second Edition, is a detailed and visual guide to today’s TCP/IP protocol suite. Fully updated for the newest innovations, it demonstrates each protocol in action through realistic examples from modern Linux, Windows, and Mac OS environments. There’s no better way to discover why TCP/IP works as it does, how it reacts to common conditions, and how to apply it in your own applications and networks.

Building on the late W. Richard Stevens’ classic first edition, author Kevin R. Fall adds his cutting-edge experience as a leader in TCP/IP protocol research, updating the book to fully reflect the latest protocols and best practices. He first introduces TCP/IP’s core goals and architectural concepts, showing how they can robustly connect diverse networks and support multiple services running concurrently. Next, he carefully explains Internet addressing in both IPv4 and IPv6 networks. Then, he  walks through TCP/IP’s structure and function from the bottom up: from link layer protocols–such as Ethernet and Wi-Fi–through network, transport, and application layers.

Fall thoroughly introduces ARP, DHCP, NAT, firewalls, ICMPv4/ICMPv6, broadcasting, multicasting, UDP, DNS, and much more. He offers extensive coverage of reliable transport and TCP, including connection management, timeout, retransmission, interactive data flow, and congestion control. Finally, he introduces the basics of security and cryptography, and illuminates the crucial modern protocols for protecting security and privacy, including EAP, IPsec, TLS, DNSSEC, and DKIM. Whatever your TCP/IP experience, this book will help you gain a deeper, more intuitive understanding of the entire protocol suite so you can build better applications and run more reliable, efficient networks.
