The Book of Orchids

release date: Mar 30, 2018
The Book of Orchids
One in every seven flowering plants on earth is an orchid. Yet orchids retain an air of exotic mystery—and they remain remarkably misunderstood and underappreciated. The orchid family contains an astonishing array of colors, forms, and smells that captivate growers from all walks of life across the globe. Though undeniably elegant, the popular moth orchid—a grocery store standard—is a bland stand-in when compared with its thousands of more complex and fascinating brethren, such as the Demon Queller, which grows in dark forests where its lovely blooms are believed to chase evil forces away. There is the Fetid Sun-God, an orchid that lures female flies to lay their eggs on its flowers by emitting a scent of rancid cheese. Or the rare, delicate Lizard Orchid, which mimics the appearance of lizards but smells distinctly of goat. The Book of Orchids revels in the diversity and oddity of these beguiling plants. Six hundred of the world’s most intriguing orchids are displayed, along with life-size photographs that capture botanical detail, as well as information about distribution, peak flowering period, and each species’ unique attributes, both natural and cultural. With over 28,000 known species—and more being discovered each year—the orchid family is arguably the largest and most geographically widespread of the flowering plant families. Including the most up-to-date science and accessibly written by botanists Mark Chase, Maarten Christenhusz, and Tom Mirenda, each entry in The Book of Orchids will entice researchers and orchid enthusiasts alike. With stunning full-color images, The Book of Orchids is sure to become the go-to reference for these complex, alluring, and extraordinarily adaptable plants.

Type Two No More

release date: Oct 09, 2020
Type Two No More
Mark Chase Jr. was born in Washington DC. He was raised in a household of cognac drinkers and cigarette smokers within a crack-cocaine neighborhood. He grew up resenting all three addictive drugs his entire life. Although Mark lived a drug free life and exercised daily, he was unaware of the addictive additives in food. Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2015 with a 11.9 A1C, he was ignorant of the symptoms of type 2 diabetes. His eyesight became extremely blurred, he developed hypertension and erectile dysfunction. Mark became severely depressed by his symptoms. The 'no cure' conversations with physicians, and the harmful medications to manage the disease was a daily stress. Revived emotionally by his wife, Natasha, Mark self-taught himself the many chronic inflammation triggers to avoid, such as the food additives that were eight times more addictive than the drugs from his childhood. He would later reverse his type 2 diabetes within four weeks! In the year 2020, Mark decided to write his five-year journey and testimony to help others to become type 2 no more in less than a month. As Mark's A1C continues to lower without medications, he accredits the drastic reductions of other chronic inflammation triggers such as: preservatives and dyes in foods, chemicals in the water, and formaldehyde air fresheners just to name a few.

The Children's Bread and the Debate of Whether a Christian Can Have a Demon

release date: Sep 16, 2020
The Children's Bread and the Debate of Whether a Christian Can Have a Demon
There is a debate going on here in North American Christianity. One side, the side that doesn't practice deliverance, is saying: "A Christian can't have demons-he just needs to go to church more and read his Bible more." The other side, the ministries of deliverance, are saying: "We don't have time to debate with you. We are too busy ministering deliverance to Christians." The Children's Bread thoroughly examines this debate through the lens of Scripture as well as practical evidence. Mark Chase finds: - The Bible does not teach that all demons leave at conversion. - There is no Scripture that says that Christians cannot have demons. - The Biblical concept of man's tripartite nature shows how born-again individuals can simultaneously have the indwelling Holy Spirit and a demon. - The Bible teaches the overriding principle that: God delivers those who belong to Him. - Most Christians cannot find help in their churches. As a result, they have to go to deliverance ministries to receive the healing and deliverance that God promises. - The only ones who say that Christians cannot have demons are precisely the ones who do not sit with others to conduct deliverance in the first place. MARK CHASE is a deliverance minister who heads up Invicta Ministries of Deliverance and Inner Healing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Since 2012, he has been sitting with both born-again Christians and nonbelievers to minister the deliverance and healing of Christ. Chase also leads Invicta University, the teaching and certification arm of Invicta Ministries.

Love at First Slice
For club golfers: a golf book with a sense of humor. Are you obsessed with your handicap? Phil Hunter is. But that won't stop him being ejected from his beloved golf club unless he improves soon. During a key competition the sports journalist tragically causes the death of his boss, Sir Laurence Burnham. Tortured by guilt, Phil is forced to confront his demons. He embarks on a journey of self improvement to become the best golfer he can be and win the forgiveness of Burnham's beautiful widow, Caroline. But all is not as it seems at the exclusive club and Phil becomes trapped in a web of deceit and blackmail at the hands of his tormentor, embittered former detective Ted Moss. As Hunter becomes the hunted, he must find a way to overcome the dark forces threatening to destroy him and his club. Can he make the recovery shot of his life or will he end up in the rough? As seen in Golf Digest: 'Moral of this story: If you kill your boss, you can rely on golf to recover'. Cliff Schrock, Golf Digest. This is a humorous golf novel which looks at golf from the eyes of an amateur who has endured years of golf instruction and is obsessed with the endless pursuit of a better game. Yet he is still desperate to escape the lows of mediocre golf and a constantly ruined card. Set against the backdrop of a British golf club, with some dark humor it explores the vital issues of a club golfer; handicaps, gadgets, club life. As the story unfolds it asks how can a man fall back in love with a game that's led him to rock bottom. Can positive thinking really help him improve or must he rely on hope alone? If you loved 'Fever Pitch' for reflections on man's obsession with his sport and 'Golf in the Kingdom' for an exploration of how golf can bring healing, you'll enjoy 'Love at First Slice'.
