The Hegemon's Tool Kit

release date: Jul 15, 2022
The Hegemon's Tool Kit
At a moment when the nuclear nonproliferation regime is under duress, Rebecca Davis Gibbons provides a trenchant analysis of the international system that has, for more than fifty years, controlled the spread of these catastrophic weapons. The Hegemon''s Tool Kit details how that regime works and how, disastrously, it might falter. In the early nuclear age, experts anticipated that all technologically-capable states would build these powerful devices. That did not happen. Widespread development of nuclear arms did not occur, in large part, because a global nuclear nonproliferation regime was created. By the late-1960s, the United States and the Soviet Union had drafted the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), and across decades the regime has expanded, with more agreements and more nations participating. As a result, in 2022, only nine states possess nuclear weapons. Why do most states in the international system adhere to the nuclear nonproliferation regime? The answer lies, Gibbons asserts, in decades of painstaking efforts undertaken by the US government. As the most powerful state during the nuclear age, the United States had many tools with which to persuade other states to join or otherwise support nonproliferation agreements. The waning of US global influence, Gibbons shows in The Hegemon''s Tool Kit, is a key threat to the nonproliferation regime. So, too, is the deepening global divide over progress on nuclear disarmament. To date, the Chinese government is not taking significant steps to support the nuclear nonproliferation regime, and as a result, the regime may face a harmful leadership gap.

I turned to Grassroots Marketing. I personally did not buy a lead during my first three years in business and have created a highly successful agency. This book is to help everyone else build a successful business using grassroots tips and tricks. These ideas have all proven to be successful in creating steady growth year over year.

Rock Bottom and Faithless

release date: Oct 08, 2019
Rock Bottom and Faithless
Being separated from my abusive husband didn’t make me a domestic violence survivor. It surely didn’t release me from the grip of his brainwashing control and the innate power he had over me. As I started putting my shattered life back together after being separated from my abuser, I still felt his compelling control shaping my every thought and action. I didn’t feel like a domestic violence survivor just because I was no longer with my abuser. In fact, I felt like a remotely-controlled, confused puppet still shaken by residual influences in my mind. In order to become a true survivor, knowing that the thoughts in my head were mine, I had to: · Identify the deeply rooted lies of my abuser that I believed were true · Extract the lies · Lean on God’s strength to defeat the lies and replace them with His word · Acknowledge that the trauma experienced from the abuse left physical and emotional scars that needed to be furthered explored Eleven years later, being a domestic violence survivor means being free and open to living again. It means I am open to making decisions, building trusting relationships again, and eventually feeling love again. It means that the thoughts in my head are mine and mine only. With the emotional abuse removed from my mind, God’s grace and love have taken over. It''s a calmness and peace I never thought possible.

Silhouettes of American Life (Classic Reprint)
Excerpt from Silhouettes of American Life Miss Dilly had had this pain only since she had lived in the lowland. It had almost disabled her. She was born in the mountains up on the Old Black - and she fancied that if she could go back to them she would be cured. But her younger brother, James, owned this farm and inn, and when their mother died, twenty years ago, he had agreed with Preston Barr that he should have both, rent free, if he would give Dilly a home and the yield of one field of tobacco yearly. James then set off to the West to make his fortune. Letters at first came regularly. But it was ten years now since she had heard from him. Nobody ever heard a groan from Miss Dilly when the attacks of pain came on. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO USING LEARNING STYLES IN MATH INSTRUCTION

release date: Jan 01, 1994
A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO USING LEARNING STYLES IN MATH INSTRUCTION
Although much attention has been given to the use of learning styles in the general curriculum and in teaching students to read., the use of learning styles-based instruction in the mathematics classroom has received limited attention. Therefore, the purpose of this book is to address the improvement of mathematics instruction through the use of learning styles-based instruction. Its goals are to give the reader an understanding of learning styles-based instruction in mathematics, of effective use of manipulatives in teaching various concepts at all grade levels, of ways to develop spatial reasoning skills in students, of different activities which accommodate a variety of learning styles, and of authentic assessment in mathematics. The book presents the use of learning styles-based instruction as a powerful strategy which teachers can and should use with the result that teaching will be more effective, less remediation will be necessary, and the overall mathematics curriculum will be enhanced.
