Roosevelt & His Rough Riders

release date: Oct 12, 2023
Roosevelt & His Rough Riders
The indelible deeds and actions of the men of the Volunteer Cavalry This account of the services of the famous, 'Rough Riders' was written by Edward Marshall, a journalist of the New York Journal who accompanied the Rough Riders into battle and, indeed, was seriously wounded and incapacitated in consequence. Raised in 1898 the regiment saw action in Cuba during The Spanish-American War, though as infantry. Theodore Roosevelt (originally second in command) became its famous commanding officer. As most readers interested in this subject are aware, the original plan for the regiment was to recruit frontiersmen from the Western states, but its ranks soon attracted volunteers from the Eastern states including members of high society who were also accomplished horsemen, fine shots and keen for combat. The Rough Riders saw their share of action, but are principally remembered for their dashing assault on San Juan Hill. The affair conjured an iconic image of the emergent United States of America as it entered the world stage of politics and power in the spirit of what had formed the nation. Theodore Roosevelt became an abiding national hero. This fascinating history of The Rough Riders is accompanied in this Leonaur edition by an account of their famous charge written by Roosevelt based on his own experiences.

Prisms of Meaning

release date: Mar 24, 2019
Prisms of Meaning
The present book offers a collection of articles and writings which detail aspects of the theme of finding meaning in suffering as a perspective available through Viktor E. Frankl's Logotherapy and Existential Analysis. It is comprised of selected articles which illustrate dimensions of finding meaning in unavoidable suffering. --By unavoidable suffering we mean that suffering which can not be cured or lifted because it is not possible to avoid it by some means that would be otherwise the first meaningful response to it. Through meaning-centered lenses, the book intends to highlight how understanding the unfolding of meaning in our lives can be part of a historical and biographical exploration; how Viktor Frankl himself experienced and responded to suffering in his life; how his system of meaning-centered psychotherapy responds to aspects of suffering universally confronting humanity; and how, through the freedom of will of each individual, a unique and meaningful answer can be searched for, found, and actualized.

Lost Adventures
If one wants to begin to understand the GULAG, he would read anyone of at least 131 books such as; - My twenty-two prisons and My Escape from Solovetski, 1929, by Bezonov, Eliuriai Dimitrevich - Red Gaols, a Woman's Experiences in Russian Prisons, 1935, by author did not want to be identified. - Prisoner of the OGPU, 1935, by Kitechin, George. - An Account of the Construction of the New Canal between the White Sea and the Baltic Sea, 1935, by Maxim Gorky, and 30 writers. Many people refer to the book The Gulag Archipelago, 1974, by Solzenitsyn, I., as "the" book on the GULAG partly from his experience and research thereof. The author started with a simple expression written about John W. Adkins: "He left home at an early age, and never returned home age". There was literally no information about him. Most people, familiar with my work, have been totally amazed at the amount of the information, documents, obtained by the author from the archives on one individual. After many years of work, the author did not want to leave this material to just a research project sitting on the bookshelf.

Our Family Heritage
Henri Perduex (b.1625), Huguenot and son of Pierre Perduex, married Marie Toisson. They emigrated from France to England in 1655, and in 1657 went to Martinique in the West Indies as resident factor for the Indies Company. By 1661 they immigrated to Elizabeth City, Virginia and, seeking fellow Huguenots, settled in eastern Worcestor County, Maryland in 1662. "There is a gap between the time Henri Perdeux [sic] is reported to have come over to Maryland in 1662 and the time that we see records of the next Perdue, John Perdue in 1720 of more than 58 years. This is enough time for three generations to have started"--(P. 1.0-8). The Perdue family of the eastern shore of Maryland starts with John Perdue Sr. (d.1743), who purchased land in Somerset (later Worcester) County, Maryland in 1720. Descendants and relatives listed lived chiefly in Maryland.
