We Who Wrestle with God
A revolutionary new offering from Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, renowned psychologist and author of the global bestseller 12 Rules for Life. In We Who Wrestle with God, Dr. Peterson guides us through the ancient, foundational stories of the Western world. In riveting detail, he analyzes the Biblical accounts of rebellion, sacrifice, suffering, and triumph that stabilize, inspire, and unite us culturally and psychologically. Adam and Eve and the eternal fall of mankind; the resentful and ultimately murderous war of Cain and Abel; the cataclysmic flood of Noah; the spectacular collapse of the Tower of Babel; Abraham’s terrible adventure; and the epic of Moses and the Israelites. What could such stories possibly mean? What force wrote and assembled them over the long centuries? How did they bring our spirits and the world together, and point us in the same direction? It is time for us to understand such things, scientifically and spiritually; to become conscious of the structure of our souls and our societies; and to see ourselves and others as if for the first time. Join Elijah as he discovers the Voice of God in the dictates of his own conscience and Jonah confronting hell itself in the belly of the whale because he failed to listen and act. Set yourself straight in intent, aim, and purpose as you begin to more deeply understand the structure of your society and your soul. Journey with Dr. Peterson through the greatest stories ever told. Dare to wrestle with God.

An ABC of Childhood Tragedy

Publication date: 2022-10-25
An ABC of Childhood Tragedy
Wickedly penned by Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, best-selling author of 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos, An ABC of Childhood Tragedy unforgettably depicts the doomed and desperate lives of Adella, Bertram, Cynthia and their cohort of catastrophe. Twenty-six dark and witty poems, each a tragic comedy of innocence and vulnerability. Twenty-six hauntingly beautiful portrayals of injustice and suffering, each from the gifted imagination of Juliette Fogra, illustrator of Beyond Order: 12 More Rules of Life. If A Nightmare before Christmas or Coraline struck you to the heart; if the gothic raillery of Edward Gorey’s Gashlycrumb Tinies seduced you to smile satirically; if the Brothers Grimm were nowhere near grim enough for you; then An ABC of Childhood Tragedy might just be the book you’ve been pining for.

Beyond Order
The companion volume to 12 Rules for Life offers further guidance on the perilous path of modern life. In 12 Rules for Life, clinical psychologist and celebrated professor at Harvard and the University of Toronto Dr. Jordan B. Peterson helped millions of readers impose order on the chaos of their lives. Now, in this bold sequel, Peterson delivers twelve more lifesaving principles for resisting the exhausting toll that our desire to order the world inevitably takes. In a time when the human will increasingly imposes itself over every sphere of life—from our social structures to our emotional states—Peterson warns that too much security is dangerous. What’s more, he offers strategies for overcoming the cultural, scientific, and psychological forces causing us to tend toward tyranny, and teaches us how to rely instead on our instinct to find meaning and purpose, even—and especially—when we find ourselves powerless. While chaos, in excess, threatens us with instability and anxiety, unchecked order can petrify us into submission. Beyond Order provides a call to balance these two fundamental principles of reality itself, and guides us along the straight and narrow path that divides them.

Peacemaking Among Higher Order Primates - Jordan B Peterson: Jordan B Peterson Fulltext
Jordan B Peterson Paper Fulltext, Peacemaking among higher-order primatesAbstract Facts are facts. Opinions about the facts differ. It is therefore the job of the peacemaker to bridge the gap between opinions, and in that manner, bring about reconciliation. This much seems obvious. But what if the facts themselves differ? What if the basis for the disagreement is so profound that the world arrays itself differently for each antagonist - and worse: what if the disagreement extends beyond the antagonist, to the peacemaker, who sees the facts themselves in a manner that neither antagonist can accept? What then? Ridiculous, surely: how can the facts themselves differ, when it is one world that we all inhabit? But the facts do differ, because the world is complex beyond the scope of any one interpretation. For this reason, there can be disagreement about first principles, as well as their derivatives. This means that the job of the peacemaker is to establish an accord that allows the facts themselves to become a matter of agreement. To do that, however, the peacemaker has to be able to see the facts that lead to peace. To do that, he has to be more than a pragmatic broker of opinions. He has to be a man of deep and profoundly rooted morality - and a man of the morality of no man''s land, instead of the morality of established territory. No man''s land is the unknown, terra incognita. The morality of the previously established is merely a matter of tradition, agreed upon by all. When traditions clash, however, the facts themselves are no longer self-evident. Under such conditions, it is only the individual who has traveled strange lands who can build a bridge. But to travel strange lands is to risk coming under the dominion of the terrible spirits that inhabit the uninhabitable; to risk becoming the strange son of chaos - someone no longer acceptable to those who still dwell quietly at home. To travel strange lands is to see the broader territory, the no man''s land surrounding all conditional moralities, and to learn how to negotiate a path there - but also to lose all belief that there is one way, or one set of fact. 12 Rules for Life

12 Rules for Life
Amusing, amazing and instructive, Dr. Peterson reveals to us why skateboarding young men and young ladies must be allowed to sit unbothered, what horrible destiny anticipates the individuals who reprimand too effortlessly, and why you should constantly pet a feline when you meet one in the city. What does the sensory system of the modest lobster need to inform us concerning standing up straight (with our shoulders back) and about achievement throughout everyday life? For what reason did antiquated Egyptians love the ability to give careful consideration as the most elevated of divine beings? What repulsive ways do individuals tread when they end up angry, pompous and vindictive? Dr. Peterson travels extensively, examining discipline, flexibility, experience and duty, refining the world''s insight into 12 viable and significant principles forever. 12 Rules for Life smashs the cutting edge commonplaces of science, confidence and human instinct, while changing and honoring the psyche and soul of its perusers.

Political Correctness Gone Mad?
''Without free speech there is no true thought.'' -Jordan Peterson ''If you''re white, this country is one giant safe space.'' -Michael Eric Dyson The Munk debate on political correctness Is political correctness an enemy of free speech, sparking needless conflict? Or is it a weapon in the fight for equality, restoring dignity to the downtrodden? How should we talk about the things that matter most in an era of rapid social change? Four thinkers take on one of the most heated debates in the culture wars of the twenty-first century.

Maps of Meaning
Why have people from different cultures and eras formulated myths and stories with similar structures? What does this similarity tell us about the mind, morality, and structure of the world itself? From the author of 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos comes a provocative hypothesis that explores the connection between what modern neuropsychology tells us about the brain and what rituals, myths, and religious stories have long narrated. A cutting-edge work that brings together neuropsychology, cognitive science, and Freudian and Jungian approaches to mythology and narrative, Maps ofMeaning presents a rich theory that makes the wisdom and meaning of myth accessible to the critical modern mind.
