The Dust and the Blood

release date: Dec 01, 2005
The Dust and the Blood
My family has always been interested in politics. I inherited this interest from my father, who devoured the newspaper every night and was always well informed. My mother''s interest never waned until a series of strokes eroded her memory. So it was natural for me to maintain an interest in current events. My small book is about four fictional characters who join the Marines and then are caught up in the current war in Iraq. If my political interest shines through, well, I don''t apologize for that. I tried, however, to be fairminded. I have followed the war for years, and in fact have several scrapbooks packed with information about it. I have read the 9/11 report. So, after reading, listening, and studying, I decided to fashion a story that may interest the readers. In any case, I went forward with this and found the experience of following my four friends enjoyable and cathartic at the same time. I hope the reader does as well.
