For fans of Yesteryear and The Radiant Dark --a propulsive, electrifying novel that examines motherhood and pregnancy following a mysterious, uncanny global event, illuminating the dangers of being a pregnant woman in a quickly changing world. A door appears in the air above a pastoral clearing outside a tiny village in the Dolmades region—a brother and a sister venture inside a mystery, and the world as we know it will be changed forever. Any man that enters is destroyed; any woman that enters returns with a secret—and then anytime between two days and two years, she gives birth. The pregnancies are never natural or predictable, the process as mysterious and unknowable as the children that result. And of course—with any secret and every treasure comes the hunter. A subversive, propulsive look at identity and dreaming amidst the capitalist obsession with mothering and the female body.
