Yes and No. I'm a graduate student pursuing a doctorate in neurobiology, and I wrote this book using humor and simple conversational English to address challenging topics in science (perception vs. reality), philosophy (objective truth vs. relativism) and politics (conservatism vs. liberalism). For example, people don't seem to know how to differentiate between perception and reality (or articulate the difference between perception and reality). However, all of the science about how to differentiate between perception and reality is out there in the scientific literature. It's all buried in boring college textbooks, in excruciating, mind-numbing detail. In this book, I take that boring scientific data and present it in a manner that's easy to understand. The book is a mash-up of science, religion, politics and paranormal activity. Here is a run-down of the chapters: GOD - Covers the science underlying perception in humans and animals. The first half of this chapter covers several key experiments involving perception in animals, including Pavlov's dogs, and it features a brief intro to evolution. The second half of the chapter addresses all of the step-by-step processes involved in perception, including how neurons (nerve cells) transmit information from the senses to the brain.
