One Hundred Physics Visualizations Using MATLAB

release date: Jan 01, 2014
One Hundred Physics Visualizations Using MATLAB
This book provides visualizations of many topics in general physics. The aim is to have an interactive MATLAB script wherein the user can vary parameters in a specific problem and then immediately see the outcome by way of dynamic movies of the response of the system in question. MATLAB tools are used throughout and the software scripts accompany the text in Symbolic Mathematics, Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Waves and Optics, Gases and Fluid Flow, Quantum Mechanics, Special and General Relativity, and Astrophysics and Cosmology. The emphasis is on building up an intuition by running many different parametric choices chosen actively by the user and watching the subsequent behavior of the system. Physics books using MATLAB do not have the range or the intent of this text. They are rather steeped in technical detail. Symbolic math is used extensively and is integral to the aim of using MATLAB tools to accomplish the technical aspects of problem solving.Contents: Symbolic Mathematics and Math ToolsClassical MechanicsElectromagnetismWaves and OpticsGases and Fluid FlowQuantum MechanicsSpecial and General RelativityAstrophysics and Cosmology Readership: Graduate students and researchers in physics. The Art of Modern War

release date: Dec 01, 2013
The Art of Modern War
Sun Tzu was a master philosopher, strategist, and military general who lived during the Zhou dynasty, some 2500 years ago. Originally a military text of stratagem, The Art of War has influenced military and political leaders throughout the centuries. His ideas still hold true today and are highly applicable to the modern-day battleground...corporations. Organizations have a collective psychology and oftentimes an underlying psychosis. Despite nearly 100 years of effort to make management a science, starting with Frederick Taylor in the early 1900s, organizations today are still composed of individuals and their feelings. Even though decisions that are made in everyday business are supposedly rooted in logic and rational thought, almost all decisions are ultimately judgments, and just like all of human behavior, those judgments are based on the individual''s mood, feelings, and thoughts. This volume is to be consumed in small chunks, and highlights 21 of Sun Tzu''s most applicable strategies. It is aimed toward helping the individual to become a master of his or her surroundings, situations, and adversaries in a corporate environment. This volume applies ancient philosophy to modern-day situations and highlights how we can influence the behavior of others by creating the environment we want, tapping into the feelings and thoughts of others, and ultimately impacting leadership judgments. Some may call it manipulation, some may call it deception. I call it the Art of Modern War.

The Murder of Mary Magdalene

release date: Feb 01, 2013
The Murder of Mary Magdalene
In this book, Dan Green presents his thoughts on the possibility of the murder of Mary Magdelene and her body being laid to rest in the grounds of Lincoln Cathedral. Working through codes that he has found throughout the cathedral and its environs, whether by sacred geometry or hidden messages in memorial plaques, he gives a well-thought out and intricately explained hypothesis which leads the reader to think hard about the coincidences that he has brought to light. He weaves in connections with the infamous Rennes-le-Chateau to add weight to his argument. Is there any truth in his suggestion that Mary Magdelene was, in fact, the wife of Jesus and was pregnant with his child at the time of her murder? For researchers and intrepids alike, the solution to the mystery that is Rennes-le-Chateau would be the discovery of a clear and unamibiguous location whereupon resides the lost ''treasure'' once guarded by the warrior monks of the Knights Templar, a historical secret involving the biblical Jesus and his alleged wife, the mysterious figure that is Mary Magdalene. For centuries a fruitless search for the ever changing allegory of this ''Holy Grail'' has taken place in France despite many considering that it has always remained hidden in England. Where the ''psychic'' appears to meet with the psychological and mystical submerged secrets of the Collective Unconscious, amidst a series of astonishing synchronicities, a hint of tunnels and a labyrinth of cracked codes in both France and England, a ''Lincoln Cathedral Code'' discovered within the architecture and sacred geometry of this ancient Gothic Cathedral with its nearby puzzling place name ''Jerusalem'' and once nearby thriving Jewish community, gives the most convincing evidence yet for a concealed revelation amidst a battleground of Light and Dark, and an additional and shocking twist to challenge contemporary theories of a holy bloodline, suggesting that not only was a pregnant Mary Magdalene murdered but that the very identity of the Jesus figure may now also be brought in to question...
