Mouton's Louisiana Brigade
This is the story of one of the most unique Louisiana infantry brigades in the War for Southern Independence. It was made up of an ethnically diverse hodgepodge of Louisiana's very diverse population, including South Louisiana Cajuns, North Louisiana Rednecks, and New Orleans Irish, Germans, and other ethnic groups then populating the Crescent City. The regiments of the brigade included the 18th Louisiana Infantry Regiment, the 24th Louisiana Infantry (Crescent) Regiment, and the 10th (Yellow Jackets), and the 12/16th Louisiana infantry battalions. Early in the war, some of the units fought in other brigades at the Battle of Shiloh, Tennessee. When the brigade was formed in Louisiana in the fall of 1862, they fought in the Lafourche Campaign of 1862, the Bayou Teche Campaign of the spring of 1863, the Great Texas Overland Expedition of 1863, and the Red River Campaign of 1864. The brigade was led by one of the most colorful, chivalrous, and competent Confederate commanders of the war, Brigadier General Alfred Mouton of Lafayette, Louisiana. The fighting men of the brigade time and again fought with great valor and left a legacy of gallantry that makes their descendants proud to this day.

Castles

Castles
From New York Times bestselling historian Dan Jones, a grand and sweeping history of the world, told through over three thousand years of iconic fortifications Castles have been built to defend humanity for millennia—from the walls of Troy in the Bronze Age and the desert bastion of Krak des Chevaliers in Syria; to Windsor Castle and the Tower of London; to Himeji in Japan and Fort Sumter in Charleston, South Carolina. They have inspired terror and passion, foiled conquering forces, and been deployed as the ultimate expression of wealth, status and supremacy. In Castles, Jones leads readers on a journey through the many eras of castle-building and across continents as each stronghold tells a unique story of power, politics, and survival, revealing the shifting tides of warfare, the rise and fall of empires, the resilience of people under siege, and the flourishing of new ideas. Blending rich storytelling, deep research, and beautiful original illustrations, Castles is an epic story of why humans build fortifications and how they powerfully capture our imagination. With Jones's trademark scholarship and flair, he shows how defiance, endurance, and ambition have been carved into the landscapes we've inherited.

This is the story of Lieutenant Colonel Kindallis "King" Bryan, original commander of Company F (Invincibles No. 1), 5th Texas Infantry Regiment, Hood's Texas Brigade. Bryan, a native of St. Mary Parish, Louisiana, moved to Texas as a 16-year-old and then fought in the War for Texas Independence of 1835-36. He was a farmer and rancher in Liberty County, Texas, a county sheriff and state legislator before the War for Southern Independence. During the war, he led the company, and later his regiment, in some of the most famous battles of the war, including Gaines' Mill, Second Manassas, Gettysburg and the Wilderness. Wounded three times, he commanded Hood's Texas Brigade for about three months in the winter of 1863-64. Bryan was one of most aggressive and respected regimental officers in the brigade, but also respected and admired by his men who appreciated a leader who took the same or greater risks than they did in battle.

Introduction to Hypnotherapy

release date: Oct 15, 2018
Introduction to Hypnotherapy
The way I like to teach people is from the deepest level up, rather than the surface level down. My experience is that most hypnotherapy courses and books teach the surface level information first and many never touch on the deeper nature of things. They will often give you an explanation of what hypnosis is, perhaps some history of hypnosis, and then they will teach you some techniques for doing hypnosis. When you understand the deeper nature of trance and pattern-matching and the different ways hypnosis can be evoked you don't need to have structured inductions or techniques for doing hypnosis: you can create your own ways of eliciting hypnotic responses in people in a client-centred way that is unique to each person you work with. This first volume will teach you the history of hypnosis, various theories of hypnosis including what I think hypnosis is, it will teach you different ways hypnosis can be evoked and deepened and will teach you how you can use self-hypnosis for yourself and why it can be helpful to teach clients self-hypnosis. You will also learn a selection of structured inductions, hypno-therapeutic techniques, how to carry changes from within therapy sessions into clients lives and how hypnosis fits into therapy because there is a misconception that hypnotherapy is somehow different from other psychological therapies when in-fact hypnotherapy is just some form of therapy done with hypnosis as an adjunct to that therapy, hypnosis itself isn't a therapy. This book on an introduction to hypnotherapy is the first in a planned series of ten volumes about hypnotherapy. You will also learn about the trance nature of reality, about the pattern matching brain and about responsivity.
