Les Etats-Unis se sont construits contre les empires, en premier lieu contre l'empire britannique et son roi Georges III. Leur déclaration d'indépendance de 1776 n'est pas un discours sur les droits des individus, comme on l'entend souvent, mais une déclaration... d'indépendance.
