"That part of the work before us which relates to the conduct of Gen. Israel Putnam at the Battle of Bunker Hill, of which it professes to be a history, is what we and the public are at present most concerned in. We are neither friends nor enemies to any one of the persons, who have been conspicuous in the controversy upon this subject. We have no motive but the love of truth.
