Nutrient Intakes of Native Canadians Near Wood Buffalo National Park
Dietary intakes of 178 native Canadians (Indians and Metis) in three age groups (13-24, 25-29, and 50-86 years) living near Wood Buffalo National Park in northern Canada were examined over two seasons (fall and spring). Results support the desirability of increased consumption of traditional and store foods and the wisdom of encouraging the use of country foods (wild game, birds, fish, and berries).

Results of a study of the estimated frequency of use of 48 country foods queried for 120 native Canadian households near Wood Buffalo National Park for a one-year period, in order to document the household use of country foods, and to examine the nutrient intakes and health-related beliefs and preferences regarding selected country and store-bought foods of adult and adolescent natives.
