El libro trata sobre la vida cotidiana, cuya protagonista es una cerdita común y corriente, que probablemente vive en una gran ciudad, visita museos, adora algunas pinturas, o construye castillos de arena más altos que los rascacielos. El resto del tiempo hace lo mismo que cualquier niño: cargar al gato, lavarse los dientes, bañarse, hacer desastres, burlar la hora de la siesta, asustar a su hermanito y pedir muchísimos cuentos a su mamá, con tal de no dormirse. Nada extraordinario ocurre en el texto, pero la manera de combinar palabras con imágenes, es lo que hace de este libro algo diferente. En este caso, durante la escuela, le preguntan a Olivia acerca de sus vacaciones de verano, cuando fue al circo y todos estaban enfermos, y ella salvó la situación convirtiéndose en domadora de leones, malabarista y otros trabajos de este mundo.
