Paleo Diet for Athletes
Table of Contents Preface SECTION I - Getting Started Chapter # 1: An Introduction Chapter # 2: Between the lines Chapter # 3: Added Beneifts Chapter # 4: Switching to the Paleo Diet SECTION II - Paleo Specifics Chapter # 1: Importance of BCAAs Chapter # 2: Importance of Simple Carbs SECTION III - Diet Plan Chapter # 1: Basic Paleo Plan Chapter # 2: Pre-work out meals Chapter # 3: Post-work out meals Chapter # 4: Breakfast Chapter # 5: Lunch Chapter # 6: Dinner Conclusion References Try our diet and get leaner; try our diet and you’ll lose 10 pounds in a week, try our diet and you’ll never have to do cardio again; and the list goes on and on. In today’s world dieting has become more of a business than a way to benefit people’s lives. There are hundreds of diets out there and dozens making their way into the market, all cleverly advertised to target the core weakness of every consumer: A promise to make your life better. This is largely a hollow promise but still ‘health corporations’ succeed in trapping hundreds of thousands of people. So the question arises what is so special about the Paleo diet that makes it worth trying? For starters, the Paleo diet isn’t a new thing; it wasn’t created a few years or decades ago by some professor in a testing lab. The Paleo diet was a result of humans’ fight for survival, it was what our ancestors used to eat 10,000 years ago; right around the time when there were no grocery stores, super markets and fast-food. Eating wasn’t something to do in free time; to eat one had to search for his/her food, hunt it down and cook it in/on whatever was available. Thus, Paleo is not just a diet it’s a lifestyle, one which will truly make your life healthier. The Paleo diet was just revived and popularized in the 70s by a Gastroenterologist Walter L. Voegtlin. This led to one research paper after another, one book after another being published by several doctors and nutritionists. By the 90s the Paleo diet had made its mark on the dieting market and had started to shape the dieting landscape. Practitioners started to create derivatives of the diet, synthesizing the pure Paleo meals by adding extra ‘ingredients’. In this book, I will only be using pure Paleo meals as a guide to a ‘better life’. This book is written keeping in mind the physical side of a healthier lifestyle. You’ll see how athletes can benefit from the Paleo diet; be it swimmers, wrestlers, runners, or players of any game. The claims will be backed by scientific evidence and you’ll see progress within weeks.

Katahdin Hair Sheep - Raising a Profitable Breed of Sheep
Katahdin Hair Sheep - Raising a Profitable Breed of Sheep Table of Contents Introduction Chapter 1: What are Katahdin Hair Sheep Chapter 2: The Katahdin Advantage Chapter 3: Selecting Katahdin Sheep for your Flock Chapter 4: Reaping the Benefits of the Katahdin Breed Closing Remarks Author Bio Introduction More than a few people would use words like ‘dumb’ and ‘stupid’ to describe sheep. Not me. I use words like ‘trusting’, ‘habitual’ and ‘profitable’. I use these words because they are what I know sheep to be. As someone who spent over twenty years as a shepherd to several hundred head of sheep, I can say in no uncertain terms that I know the potential for sheep when it comes to making your farm a profitable business. The degree of profitability, however, depends upon the quality of your sheep. And when it comes to quality, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better breed of sheep than the Katahdin. Katahdin are hair sheep; meaning they don’t have wool. So yes, if your intentions for raising sheep are for spinning, you will need to choose a wool breed known for the quality of their wool. But if it’s meat production you are after, look no further than the Katahdin.

This milk is the main constituent of a number of other products like cheese, butter, yogurt, cottage cheese, and buttermilk. This book is going to tell you all about how you can use these products to cure a number of ailments. In ancient times, a man’s prosperity was counted by the number of livestock he had in his farm, including goats, sheep, cows, horses, and other such domesticated animals. That is why in ancient books, the milk of a cow has been described in such glowing terms – The spinal cord of a cow has a nerve called Sunlight in it. Whenever the Sun God showers his rays on the body of a cow grazing in the fields, the rays are turned into gold when they touch the nerve called sunlight. That is the reason why the butter and the milk you get from a cow is golden in color. Talk about imagination! But this is the reason why when the Celtic and Gaulic tribes left Britain during the Roman conquest, the women walked in front of the cows and horses in order to protect them! That means if any one tried stealing the cows away, they would have to go through the warrior women first! Traditionally, milk was drank fresh without heating. It is only nowadays that we pasteurize it in order to get rid of all the germs. The yellowish color, supposed to be gold from the rays of the sun [!] is nothing but fat globules in the milk. The white color of the milk is due to casein. This is rich in nourishing and nutritional calcium. That is the reason why growing children are given a glass full of milk morning and evening, so that they have strong bones, good teeth and a healthy constituency. Traditionally, it is believed that the best time to drink milk is in the early morning. According to the ancients, the milk was digested as the sun went up, taking with it the benefit of the rays of the sun. That is why milk and milk products were never given to members of the family during the evening hours. There is a scientific reason behind this belief. It takes about three hours for milk to digest. That is why, if you are drinking milk at night in order to sleep more peacefully, do not go to sleep, as soon as you drink the milk.

Glass in Your Vegetable Garden

Glass in Your Vegetable Garden
Table of Contents Introduction Glasshouses, Greenhouses and Hot Houses Cloches and the Greenhouse Effect Watering under Cloches Choosing the Right Site Time to Sow Some Easily Grown vegetables under Glass Tomatoes Cucumbers General Bed Making Tip Mushrooms Dwarf Beans and French Beans Carrots and Radishes Lettuces Conclusion Author Bio Publisher Introduction The first time I saw a glass greenhouse in a mountain area, where the weather was very harsh, and still vegetables were being grown under such inclement conditions, I began to wonder – how many of us can really afford a glass greenhouse, especially when the materials are so expensive. That is why I am writing this book to tell you about how you can use cloches and glass in your vegetable garden, and get plenty of fresh vegetables all the year round, even when it is -10° outside. Glass covers to force vegetables and fruit much before their normal, natural seasonal harvest time, as well as protection have been in long usage for centuries. It has been noticed that tomatoes are one of the best of all indoor crops for even a newbie gardener and if you are growing them under glass, they are going to be of a higher quality than those grown outdoors. Also, the harvest is going to be earlier than the one which you are going to expect from your outdoor crop. Remember that when you are making a glass house, you are giving your plants an opportunity to grow in a temperature which, though artificially controlled is making an atmosphere as if they are growing outside, in one particular season. I have already written a book about Introduction to Sustainable Greenhouse Gardening http://www.amazon.com/Introduction-Sustainable-Greenhouse-GardeningGrowing/dp/1511775696/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1440090110&sr=8-1&keywords=greenhouse+gardening+dueep, for all those people who like constructing things in their garden for protecting their plants and growing out of season things, even in winter. This book is going to give you more information, about the types of vegetables you can grow in these glasshouses – under glass – or under cloches, where you are going to get the greenhouse effect in a limited space.

All the ingredients for a delicious meal were right at hand. Suddenly I heard the song – she sang when she cooked – broken midway and abruptly. Where were the onions? All the herbs were there, and so were the spices. Garlic was also there in large quantities, but where were the onions? Imagine cuisines from all over the world which have not been flavored with members of the onion family like onions, garlic, leeks, and shallots. I can just understand how she felt, especially when a large multitude of people all over the world are not going to consider a meal complete, and less it is been accompanied with onions in some form or the other. There are 325 varieties of onions, found all over the world and it has been shown during archaeological surveys and through historical records that onions and mankind go together, just like bacon and eggs, salt-and-pepper and so on. You can eat onions raw, boiled, baked, cooked or in any way you wish. It is believed that onions supposedly originated in Western Asia, from where they spread all over the earth. Onions are one of the foods spoken of in the Holy Bible. In Egypt, workers on the pyramids were fed corn bread and onions, and so were the soldiers in Rome, who ate bread, onions and a fish sauce called garum, flavored with their daily ration of salt [salarium was the money paid out to them so that they could buy salt.] Thus the term “salary” and the term of loyalty, coming down from the ages, “Eating someone’s salt ”which means having worked for them. In medieval Europe, rents were paid in onions and also bride gifts given during medieval weddings included onions and spices for those who could afford to give these preferred and desired gifts. It is a not so well-known fact that the onion is most powerful when it is plucked out fresh from the earth, and eaten within an hour. That is because it has a vital element, which remains only for an hour after the onion has been harvested. So when we were young, our grandmother always told us to go out in the garden and pull out a couple of fresh onion plants, to eat with our lunch. According to her, this would prevent us from suffering from sunstroke. It would also strengthen our immunity systems. It also kept our digestive system working excellently. After lunch, we were made to brush our teeth and gargle with salt water so that we did not go back to school, smelling of onion breath. It is a known historical fact that Gen. Grant demanded onions from the war Dept. during the American Civil War. According to him, his Army would not keep healthy, without onions, nor would it march without them! The very next morning two wagon loads of onions were sent straight to him. According to him, onions kept his soldiers fit and prevented them from suffering from stomach problems. He was right, there.
