This book is divided into four parts; arranged in the se- quence in which they would naturally be studied. Each part; however; is independent of the others; and may be studied by itself. It is hoped that the book will prove useful in high schools; academies; and seminaries; as well as to candidates for teachers' examinations and civil service examinations. The various topics have been prepared upon the assumption that the stu- dent has already studied a part of the work in an elementary form.

An argument for reconciliation and criticism, Kant's work is included in this volume with an introduction, bibliography, index, and chronology of the philosopher's life and times.

The primer uses methods for teaching children to read that are recognisable today: encouraging the child to interact with the words and pictures, pointing out the printed words as they see them in the pictures, constructing these into sentences of rhyming verse, counting how many times a word appears on a page, and even suggesting that once a word has been mastered the child should be given another book and asked to find the same word.
