Enoch Arden in the Hope Shelter

release date: Jan 01, 2006
Enoch Arden in the Hope Shelter
Ciel is catatonic and will only express herself through Strauss''s music on the piano and through classical song, while Jabber moves in and out of psychotic delusion. Their lives are desperate but they find peace, refuge, and blissful love in performing their own wild and woolly personalized version of Tennyson''s classic epic poem "Enoch Arden." This is a play about the truly redemptive and empowering nature of art, and how it can be recreated and reclaimed by anyone with the hunger and the will to do so.Based on Tennyson''s "Enoch Arden" and the melodrama for piano by Richard Strauss.

In Crow's Field

release date: Aug 16, 2025
In Crow's Field
A seventeen-year-old girl, Ana, is lying contentedly in an abandoned farmer''s field outside of Kingston, Ontario, revelling in the August sunset, when her mind is transported to another time and place. Like a dream, but real: She and her friend Frances are eight years old, crawling in the grasses of Crow''s Field in Middletown, Connecticut, collecting wildflowers, when two crackly male voices ask them what they are doing. So begins the reliving of a forgotten attack with the only witness having been her secret best friend Patty, who stumbles on the scene and then, fleeing the attackers, tries to swim across the turbulent Connecticut River and drowns. Ana finds she cannot speak to save her friend, and is therefore abandoned by the Virgin Mary, who no longer appears to her before her grand mal seizures. When Ana''s family moves to Canada, she is overjoyed as she is sure she has escaped. Her teenage years are a time of new friends, of being haunted by her secret best friend''s ghost, of discovering her sexuality, of bullying so severe it caused a seizure that would have killed her had she not screamed herself back into life. When she meets the charismatic Satan''s Choice member Matthieu at the local fairgrounds, and they fall in love in the Haunted House ride, she feels more alive than she ever has. Slowly but surely, Ana becomes a woman who is willing to act and to speak, no matter what the cost.

The Thrill

The Thrill
Elora Dixon is a vibrant, middle-aged lawyer and disability-rights activist who has never walked a step in her life. A neuromuscular disease left her with a curved spine and a reliance on around-the-clock care. Nonetheless, she is an inexorable force when chance pits her against the notorious Julian Summer, who is in town promoting his internationally bestselling book. Julian is a fervent supporter of euthanasia and Elora is the counter-argument - a living rebuke to parents who want the option of euthanizing a disabled newborn. Over the Creek and Through the Swamp

release date: Mar 14, 2018
Over the Creek and Through the Swamp
This story is a historical fiction, based on three characters, Uncle Jake, Aunt Sallie and Uncle Doby, who came to central Florida as early pioneers in 1883. As with any pioneer, they faced moments of danger from the deep creeks and untamed swamps; but, they also had fun times living the simple life. Many of the events are true, but all could have happened considering the location and the time period. It should be very helpful to the students of pioneer history.
