IBM
"The purpose of this professional project has been to conceptualize and create a comprehensive marketing campaign for the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM). The campaign concentrates on IBM''s PS/2 line of personal computers and targets IBM''s higher education market. ... The research done for the project is two-fold. The primary research is a content analysis encompassing the past decade of IBM''s print advertisements from selected sources. The objective of this research is to show that IBM''s ''traditional'' advertisements are repetitive and generic. The content analysis was supplemented by personal interviews with IBM executives, the manager and student manager of Computer Spectrum (the computer outlet on the campus of the University of Missouri) and advertising faculty members at the University of Missouri School of Journalism. A literature review was also done on the history of IBM and on overall views of the personal computer industry and its advertising trends." (p. iii) Includes field notes and examples of work.
