Healthy Smile, Healthier Life

release date: Apr 09, 2020
Healthy Smile, Healthier Life
What are the signs that dentists can see that signal a larger health concern? If you have family history of heart disease or stroke; if you have -- or are at risk for -- diabetes; even if you are considered a "healthy" person, Healthy Smile, Healthier Life has information that can help you live a healthier, happier... and longer life.As a dentist, the mouth is the obvious starting place for Dr. Norige's quest for better patient health. In Healthy Smile, Healthier Life, Dr. Norige explains -- in plain English -- the red flags in your mouth that signal unnecessary stress is being placed on your heart, and other warning signs he can see that affect more than your mouth. Why is a dentist concerned with recognizing these signs? The mouth is part of the whole body system, which means that any change in the mouth can have a ripple effect throughout the body. Dr. Norige's philosophy of complete health dentistry guides him to find ways to positively change your oral health and therefore your overall health.Take your first step towards a better understanding of the connection between your oral health and overall health with Healthy Smile, Healthier Life.

Selective Prosecution in the Federal Criminal Justice System?

release date: Jan 01, 2010
Selective Prosecution in the Federal Criminal Justice System?
Since July 2007, the Committee on the Judiciary and its staff have been investigating allegations that political considerations may have improperly influenced federal criminal prosecutions in a number of cases around the country. For the reasons described as follows, further action along the following lines is recommended: 1) Justice Department internal oversight offices should conduct a thorough investigation and report on these troubling allegations of selective, politically motivated federal prosecutions 2) The Committee's investigation should continue and further efforts should be made to obtain relevant documents about the cases described in this book, and 3) As part of that investigation, efforts should be made to obtain testimony from Karl Rove. This book describes the progress of the investigation on allegations of selective and politically-motivated prosecution and summarises troubling evidence regarding several federal criminal cases. Because the Department of Justice has largely refused to co-operate with the Committee's investigation, key facts remain unknown and reliable final judgements cannot be made. However, given the troublesome facts identified to date, it is clear at a minimum that current and former Department leadership has been derelict in failing to review these matters and reassure the American people that federal law enforcement is impartial and fair.

The Sound that Mattered

release date: Aug 24, 2025
The Sound that Mattered
"He tiptoed through childhood. Whispered his wonder. Muted his mischief. They lived like echoes." The Sound That Mattered is a story about silence-the kind that steals names, swallows truth, and leaves echoes in its place. In a world where voices are borrowed and belonging is earned, one boy walks through rooms that remember. A hospital bill. A dark threshold. A whisper in the grass. Each moment hums with quiet consequence. This is not a tale of noise, but of resonance. Of what remains when the shouting stops. Of how love, memory, and identity survive in the hush. If you've ever spoken with someone else's voice, or buried your own beneath the noise- this is for you.

The Spread of Manufacturing to the Periphery 1870-2007

The Spread of Manufacturing to the Periphery 1870-2007
This paper documents industrial output growth around the poor periphery (Latin America, the European periphery, the Middle East and North Africa, Asia, and sub-Saharan Africa) between 1870 and 2007. We provide answers to the following questions: When and where did rapid industrial growth begin in the periphery? When and where did peripheral growth rates exceed those in the industrial core? When was the high-point of peripheral industrial growth? When and where did it become widespread? When was the high-point of peripheral convergence on the core? How variable was the growth experience between countries? And how persistent was peripheral industrial growth?
