La brigade SOS est en danger ! Le chef de la délégation étudiante a décidé de remettre en question l’existence du club de littérature du lycée, ce qui pourrait coûter à la brigade sa salle. Seule solution pour se tirer de ce mauvais pas : publier un bulletin composé de créations littéraires du club ! Les membres vont donc devoir travailler d’arrache-pied pour écrire chacun une nouvelle sur toutes sortes de thèmes tirés au sort par une Haruhi improvisée rédactrice en chef !

Kyon, coincé dans un monde parralèle, finit par retrouver Haruhi qui était en fait dans un autre lycée. Ils s''introduisent dans ce Kyon considère comme le local de la brigade SOS et parviennent à activer le programme qui doit lui permettre de rejoindre son monde et son époque. Malheureusement, Kyon se retrouve propulsé trop loin dans le passé... et se découvre allongé sur un banc, en compagnie de Mikuru...

Afin de restaurer le monde qui a été modifié, Kyon repart trois ans en arrière pour la fête du Tanabata. Il rencontre Asahina (adulte) avec qui il se rend chez Nagato. Après avoir récupéré "un programme de restauration", les voilà de retour le 18 décembre : le jour où tout a changé ! Ils découvrent que Nagato est à l’origine du dysfonctionnement opéré dans la réalité. Cette dernière désigne alors Kyon afin qu’il choisisse l’un des deux mondes : celui de la Brigade SOS et de ses personnages surnaturels ou celui dénué de fantastique, plus tranquille et plus rassurant mais ô combien banal... Que va-t-il choisir ?

She decides to make a movie, starring Mikuru.However, Haruhi begins to confuse the movie world with the real world, and the real world begins to become more like her movie. The pigeons in front of the shrine turn white, then into Passenger Pigeons, cherry trees blossom in autumn, Mikuru begins to shoot lasers out of her eyes, and the cat Shamisen begins to talk. By the efforts of Itsuki and Yuki, Kyon eventually convinces Haruhi to add a disclaimer at the end that the movie is a work of fiction.Overnight, the movie apparently edits itself, and is shown. With the disclaimer, Haruhi herself realizes it is a work of fiction, and the world reverts back to normal.
