Statistics on Fertilizers and Liming Materials in the United States

Statistics on Fertilizers and Liming Materials in the United States
In this bulletin an attempt is made to bring together in one place comprehensive statistics of fertilizer production, consumption, foreign trade, and kindred topics, as they relate to the United States . Also included are data on agricultural liming materials , gypsum, and peat. This compilation should serve, among other things, as an aid in charting the progress in the several phases of the subject; in evaluating national, regional, and State trends in the use of fertilizers and related materials; in forecasting their requirements for future use; in developing programs for expanding their production with respect to quantities and types of products and to plant location; in studies of the economics of their use in relation to farm income, crop production, and land-management practices; and in guiding their allocation in time of emergency.

Day Gone By

Day Gone By
Richard Adams, author of ''Watership Down'' and described recently as a legend of literature, was born in Newbury in 1920 as the replacement for a baby brother who died in the great influenza epidemic of 1917-19. His mother was well over 40 at the time of his birth, and his was a solitary childhood spent in a large garden. Here he explains how his days spent watching bird, beetles and wild creatures around his home engendered in him a lifelong love of nature. His years at prep and public school, at Oxford and in the army are all vividly described, and their influence on the recurrent themes in his writing of battle, leadership, friendship, bullying, solitude and longing made plain.

The Moon Hoax

release date: Nov 05, 2021
The Moon Hoax
Aptly entitled The Moon Hoax, the current publication is an attempt (and a rather successful one, it can be said) by the author to fool the masses into thinking that the moon is inhabited by fellow human beings. He does this by mimicking a scientific report writing supposedly penned by an astronomer (who, of course, is mere fiction), Sir John Herschel.

Fertilizer Use in the United States by Crops and Areas, 1964 Estimates

Fertilizer Use in the United States by Crops and Areas, 1964 Estimates
Periodic information on fertilizer use by crops provides reference points that are widely used by public and private agencies and by individuals. Identification of changes in levels and patterns of fertilizer use is a necessary part of analysis of changes in farm technology and of farm adjustment problems closely related to these changes. The reference points provided by the estimates presented here, together with information on crop yield response to changing technology, are useful in projecting potentials in crop production and in projecting demand for fertilizer and other nonfarm inputs. This report includes estimates of use of principal plant nutrients on individual crops for the 50 States, and for State parts of agricultural subregions for the 48 contiguous States, for whole subregions, and for the United States by major regions.

Les garennes de Watership Down

release date: Jan 01, 2004
