These proceedings represent the work of contributors to the 17th International Conference on Cyber Warfare and Security (ICCWS 2022), hosted State University of New York at Albany, USA on 17-18 March 2022. The second day of the conference will open with an address by Col. Jeffrey Erickson, the director of the Army Cyber Institute. His talk is entitled Developing the Critical Capabilities Needed to Respond to Cyber Attacks on Modern Cities. With an initial submission of 120 abstracts, after the double blind, peer review process there are 52 Academic research papers, 7 PhD research papers, 10 Masters Research papers and 2 work-in-progress papers published in these Conference Proceedings. This Proceedings volume contains selected papers from two symposia which were held during the 29th International Geological Congress, Kyoto, Japan, 24 August--3 September, 1992. Performance improvement in future microprocessors will rely more on the exploitation of parallelism than increases in clock frequency, leading to more multi-core and tiled processor architectures. Despite continuing research into parallelizing compilers, programming multiple instruction stream architectures remains difficult. This document describes C-Flow, a compiler system enabling statically-scheduled message passing between programs running on separate processors. When combined with statically-scheduled, low-latency networks like those in the MIT Raw processor, C-Flow provides the programmer with a simple but comprehensive messaging interface that can be used from high-level languages like C. The use of statically-scheduled messaging allows for fine-grained (single-word) messages that would be quite inefficient in the more traditional message passing systems used in cluster computers. Such fine-grained parallelism is possible because, as in systolic array machines, the network provides all of the necessary synchronization between tiles. On the Raw processor, C-Flow reduces development complexity by allowing the programmer to schedule static messages from a high-level language instead of using assembly code. C-Flow programs have been developed for arrays with 64 or more processor tiles and hve demonstrated performance within twenty percent of hand-optimized assembly.

While everyone is prone to memory errors, individuals with cognitive biases like negative attention bias may differ in their susceptibility to memory distortion. Negative attention bias, which is frequently comorbid with depressive symptoms, has been associated with increased false memory for negative stimuli. Across two experiments, we used lists of orthographically associated words to analyze responses to novel emotional stimuli between individuals with depressive symptoms and healthy controls. In Experiment 1, participants encoded neutral words that were orthographically associated with neutral, negative, or positive critical lures. Then, they completed a recognition memory test on the words shown during encoding (old items) and the critical lures (novel items). We did not find differences in false alarms to novel stimuli between groups. However, we did find significant differences in response times to correct rejections of novel stimuli and greater false alarm confidence in the depressive symptom group. In Experiment 2, we used electroencephalography to further investigate the mechanisms through which each group may complete this task. Using only lists associated with negative and neutral critical lures, the depressive symptom group showed greater hit and false alarm rates, and quicker overall response times than controls. The EEG results suggested that the behavioral differences might arise from separate memory retrieval strategies, with the depressive group utilizing an earlier, familiarity-based retrieval strategy and the control group utilizing a later, recollection-based retrieval strategy. These experiments are an important first step in understanding mechanisms underlying the relationship between depressive symptoms and emotional stimuli on memory distortion.
