John William McLure (1831-1916) lived in Union County, South Carolina with his wife, Jane Catherine Poulton (1829-1912). John was a farmer in Union County most of his life. He served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War and later participated in community affairs. John and Catherine were the parents of nine children, all born in Union County. Descendants live in South carolina and other parts of the United States.
