Who Ate My Sandwich?
★ WHO ATE MY SANDWICH ★ Uncle Jake thought that quiet days were the best, He'd relax at home with a book and time to rest. Though parties were no pleasure for Uncle Jake, On his birthday, the whole family came with a cake. This year on his birthday there was a football game, Watching a re-run just wouldn't be quite the same. ** prisrob TOP 500 REVIEWERVINE VOICE: Have you ever made a mistake? If you did, what did you do to make it better? The author, Sigal Adler, has written a fun book about Uncle Jake. Uncle Jake was a busy man, and on his day of rest that is exactly what he liked to do, rest. Uncle Jake liked to rest and watch football on television. One day of rest was his birthday, and his family arrived to celebrate. Uncle Jake would much prefer to watch football, but he welcomed his family. They had a delicious cake, and a special gift for Uncle Jake, they gave him a puppy! What do you think Uncle Jake thought anout a puppy? When you read this book, you will, understand and appreciate the rest of the story. Parents/teachers will enjoy reading this story to their children. The children will love the puppy and the storyline. They can talk about the lessons learned, making judgements before you know the story. This book is written in rhyme, one of my favorite ways to read to children. The illustrations by Abira Das are bright, colorful and beautiful. They depict the storyline and Uncle Jake and the puppy. I like books with lessons learned. ** Uvi Poznansky: Uncle jake is grouchy, and he has a problem: despite the fact he enjoys his solitude, the whole family comes to visit him on his birthday. This year on his birthday there was a football game Watching a rerun just wouldn't be the same. As always I find great pleasure in the colorful illustrations that bring out the humor in the light verse of this children's book. You can see his cheeks being pinched, with great glee, by a family member. This is a moment every child can relate to! He already had a headache; he hadn't rested a bit, When his aunt pinched his cheek he nearly had a fit! To add to his anger, his sandwich had been eaten, and he must find the culprit, his puppy: Jake shook his fist and yelled: Don't ever do that again! You're a bother! Now let me watch the game in my den." Will he ever grow comfortable with enjoying the birthday gifts and good wishes? Find out, get this book! Five stars.

"Good night, Ron," said Dad, "dream of good things, Sleep well so you'll be rested for what a new day brings." "Please wait a minute Dad, don't turn off the light. My teddy bear is afraid, alone in the dark at night. I'm sure he'll feel better if he's with me in my bed, I'll give him a cuddle and stroke his soft head." Dad brought the teddy saying: "Okay, but no more." He turned off the light and nearly closed the door.

The Warm-Hearted Snowman

release date: Nov 14, 2025
The Warm-Hearted Snowman
The Warm-Hearted Snowman We all know there's magic that comes once a year, When it snows and we know that Christmas Story, In one tiny village, all glowing with light, A very grand snowman stood guard day and night. The children all waited throughout the whole year And when the snow fell, they'd give a great cheer, Building the snowman with love and with pride, Then waving goodbye and darting inside. ** children's books author, Sigal Adler, just keeps adding to her now a rather impressive number of books for children. Each of her books was written in Hebrew and as they became best sellers in Israel she decided to have them translated into English to benefit an even broader range of children. As always Sigal's rhyming style is delightful. The stories are not only entertaining but they also carry some subtle messages to those children fortunate enough to read them - or have them read to them. The books are enhanced by one of the top illustrator/artists of the day - Abira Das, always a welcome sight when reading new stories. It is the winter season and what better way to introduce customs from around the world than to have a story about a snowman. Sigal introduces children who build the snowman and the snowman speaks to his creators - especially grateful for his carrot nose. At night the children go to their homes leaning the snowman alone - and one day when the snowman awakens his carrot nose is gone. When the children discover the missing part they give the snowman a new carrot nose. Again at night, the snowman wants to stay awake to assure his nose remains in place. He sees a little bunny. The bunny pleads for a snowman's nose to feed his family who are hungry in the wintertime. In friendship, the snowman gives us his nose - every night! And everyday it is replaced so the food chain remains intact. Until summer - and the snowman of course is no longer. The bunny keeps track of the time and come wintertime again he meets p with his old friend - the new snowman! A fun wintertime story with a solid message beautifully illustrated - and Sigal Adler successfully adds to her repertoire of fine children's books. Grady Harp ** A carrot nose and the spirit of giving This children's book is beautifully illustrated in the spirit of the season, with rolling hills of snow, sparkling snowflakes, and glittering lights, reflecting the images conjured by the writing: In one tiny village, all glowing with light A very grand snowman stood guard day and night. Surrounded by cute children who fit a carrot nose in the middle of its face, the snowman feels deserted when they must leave for the night: But when nighttime fell, the snowman would groan For the children must leave, and he'd be all alone We can all learn from this snowman, from his spirit of giving: When he spots a hungry bunny, he offers his nose to him... In lovely warm weather, well past winter's gloom, Soaking up spring with its flowers in bloom Book 2: ⚠ New Dog ⚠ It was a terrible day for the perky black cat His owner adopted a dog - just like that! A poodle too small to even harm a mouse Who acted as if he could rule the whole house. 5.0 out of 5 stars by: P.S. Winn Great book, beautiful sentiment, and a great moral. Reviewed in the United States. I loved this book and the author has released it at a perfect time. Hatred seems to be in the news a lot these days and the author deals with not only hatred but being different and finding that we are all beautiful. This is a great story for kids and a special reminder for adults that yes, we are different but that is what makes us special. I have read many of these authors' books and this one is a bit different in the illustrations but I liked the simplicity that matches the idea of the book that should be simple and important for all of us to learn.
