The book adds to the international literature on New Public Management with a distinctively Australian focus and synthesizes the impact of health sector and industrial relations reforms on health care management and work practices. It illustrates that New Public Management practices have been implemented creatively at both macro and micro levels. Solid Ground
Heading up a team with little or no executive backing for project management can make you feel like you''re wading through quick sand. Securing support from one or more senior managers will depend on both your ability to deliver the project to plan and your skills in making a compelling argument. The fact is, results often don''t speak for themselves -- at least not incremental results. Those who are successful at winning over management often chip away at it over time, marking their progress with small wins rather than mounting a grand assault. Before you open your mouth, show what you can do, says Alex S. Brown, PMP, manager of the strategic planning office at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group,Warren, N.J., USA. If you really want to make a splash at your company -- instead of a splat -- learn to become a skilled presenter and orator in addition to an adept performer.
