Psalm 23 a Journey Through the Pasture

release date: Mar 16, 2026
Psalm 23 a Journey Through the Pasture
Psalm 23 is one of the most beloved passages in all of Scripture. Its words have been spoken at hospital bedsides, whispered through tears, read at weddings, and proclaimed at funerals. But what if this familiar Psalm is more than a comfort we quote? What if it is an invitation to experience the Shepherd Himself? In Psalm 23: A Journey Through the Pasture, readers are guided verse by verse through David''s timeless declaration, discovering not just theology, but testimony. This book pairs biblical insight with personal stories and real-life reflections that bring the imagery of green pastures, still waters, dark valleys, and overflowing cups into everyday life. Rather than analyzing the Psalm from a distance, this book invites you to walk through it. To sit in it. To rest in it. Through relatable experiences, Scripture connections, and practical spiritual reflection, you''ll see how the Good Shepherd''s care is not abstract or poetic. It is personal. It is present. And it is powerful enough to shape every season of life. Whether you are in a season of peace or walking through a valley, this book serves as a companion for reflection and renewal. In this book, you will: Journey verse by verse through Psalm 23 with clear biblical insight and meaningful life application Discover how God''s provision extends beyond material needs into spiritual peace, identity, and belonging Learn how the Shepherd brings rest in chaos, direction in uncertainty, and courage in dark valleys Reflect on real-life stories that connect ancient Scripture to modern struggles Find renewed assurance that you are known, led, protected, and deeply loved This is not a book you rush through. It is one you return to. As you move through these pages, you''ll be invited to slow down, reflect, and recognize your own story within David''s words. May this journey through the pasture lead you to rest beside quiet waters, strength in difficult seasons, and find confidence in the Good Shepherd who promises that goodness and mercy will follow you all the days of your

Teaching Crowds

release date: Sep 01, 2014
Teaching Crowds
Within the rapidly expanding field of educational technology, learners and educators must confront a seemingly overwhelming selection of tools designed to deliver and facilitate both online and blended learning. Many of these tools assume that learning is configured and delivered in closed contexts, through learning management systems (LMS). However, while traditional "classroom" learning is by no means obsolete, networked learning is in the ascendant. A foundational method in online and blended education, as well as the most common means of informal and self-directed learning, networked learning is rapidly becoming the dominant mode of teaching as well as learning. In Teaching Crowds, Dron and Anderson introduce a new model for understanding and exploiting the pedagogical potential of Web-based technologies, one that rests on connections — on networks and collectives — rather than on separations. Recognizing that online learning both demands and affords new models of teaching and learning, the authors show how learners can engage with social media platforms to create an unbounded field of emergent connections. These connections empower learners, allowing them to draw from one another’s expertise to formulate and fulfill their own educational goals. In an increasingly networked world, developing such skills will, they argue, better prepare students to become self-directed, lifelong learners.

The Pursuit of Fairness

release date: Jun 07, 2004
The Pursuit of Fairness
Affirmative action strikes at the heart of deeply held beliefs about employment and education, about fairness, and about the troubled history of race relations in America. Published on the 50th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education, this is the only book available that gives readers a balanced, non-polemical, and lucid account of this highly contentious issue. Beginning with the roots of affirmative action, Anderson describes African-American demands for employment in the defense industry--spearheaded by A. Philip Randolph''s threatened March on Washington in July 1941--and the desegregation of the armed forces after World War II. He investigates President Kennedy''s historic 1961 executive order that introduced the term "affirmative action" during the early years of the civil rights movement and he examines President Johnson''s attempts to gain equal opportunities for African Americans. He describes President Nixon''s expansion of affirmative action with the Philadelphia Plan--which the Supreme Court upheld--along with President Carter''s introduction of "set asides" for minority businesses and the Bakke ruling which allowed the use of race as one factor in college admissions. By the early 1980s many citizens were becoming alarmed by affirmative action, and that feeling was exemplified by the Reagan administration''s backlash, which resulted in the demise and revision of affirmative action during the Clinton years. He concludes with a look at the University of Michigan cases of 2003, the current status of the policy, and its impact. Throughout, the author weighs each side of every issue--often finding merit in both arguments--resulting in an eminently fair account of one of America''s most heated debates. A colorful history that brings to life the politicians, legal minds, and ordinary people who have fought for or against affirmative action, The Pursuit of Fairness helps clear the air and calm the emotions, as it illuminates a difficult and critically important issue.

Every Officer is a Leader

release date: Sep 28, 1999
Every Officer is a Leader
Every Officer is a Leader: Transforming Leadership in Police, Justice, and Public Safety, authored by leadership expert Terry Anderson and several well known leaders in the law enforcement and criminal justice profession, responds to the need for a comprehensive leadership development model for the education and training of police, justice and public safety supervisors, managers and front line officers. He examines how leadership development has a profound impact on the morale and performance of individual officers, teams, and organizations, illustrating in depth and detail how police and other justice and public safety leaders (in corrections, fire, customs, immigration, security, courts, etc.) can implement the Transforming Leadership process, skills, and principles. The recent focus (during the past 10 years) on community policing initiatives has made competency based leadership skills training essential for front line officers. The author''s innovative contribution is a focus on the necessity to build "a leadership organization" before - and to an extent, while - you move ahead into building a "learning organization" that is responsive to community and internal organizational needs. The personal, team, and organization development skills discussed in this book are necessary pre-requisites to successful implementation of any neighborhood or community policing initiatives. Every Officer is a Leader: Transforming Leadership in Police, Justice, and Public Safety provides a model for integrating other models into a holistic leadership development framework. It furnishes a map for developing critical leadership skills with self-assessment, includes the developmental aspects of leadership expert Terry Anderson''s previous book on Transforming Leadership, and applies them to law enforcement and criminal justice. Anderson and his contributing authors add clarity, perspective, and examples to show how individual leaders can develop themselves, and one another, into high-performance team leaders and officers who motivate others to respond to issues that affect the morale, health, and safety of the communities in which they serve. This new focus adds a perspective on security issues that affect police, justice and public safety organizations.
