Esta é a primeira tradução brasileira da edição integral de Cidadela, publicada em 1958 pela Gallimard. "Cidadela" é a Obra Prima de Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. Começou a ser escrita em 1936 e em 1944, quando o escritor e piloto foi abatido em voo sobre o Canal da Mancha, ainda não estava concluída. A alguns amigos, Saint-Exupéry dizia que essa era sua Obra Póstuma, a outros dizia que estava "escrevendo um poema". Em 1943 contava com 913 páginas datilografadas. Durante seus voos, sempre levava um "cahier" - um caderno de notas, onde escrevia suas ideias, suas histórias e sobre filosofia.
