James Jones was the son of Edward Jones III of Isle of Wight Co., Virginia and died in New Bern, N.C. and his wife, Abigail Sugan (b. 1702), a French Huguenot. He was a Captain in North Carolina militia. Captain James Jones and Charity Alston had seven children.
