Endorsed by The Joy Smith Foundation Janis Cox has created a book that comforts the survivors of human trafficking and their families. This is needed for so many. God is our great comforter, and Janis has reflected this in her book. Praise God! 2 Corinthians 1:3-4: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in our affliction. JOY SMITH, B.Ed M.Ed O.M., FORMER MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT, FOUNDER of The Joy Smith Foundation The mission of The Joy Smith Foundation is to provide access to information so that every Canadian man, woman and child is educated and empowered to stay safe from manipulation, force, or abuse of power designed to lure and exploit them in the sex trade or forced labour. Janis Cox delivers an excellent prayer guide for understanding the many facets of human trafficking and how to biblically pray for truth to set free those who are in bondage. The fight against human trafficking is won on our knees as we pray to God to set the captives free. "God, Take Action" is a call to followers of Christ everywhere to recognize the critical role Christians have in praying and working to end this modern-day slavery. Human Trafficking lives in a world of deception. Victims are deceived into believing they will somehow have a better life. Traffickers are deceived into thinking this form of abuse is acceptable. And johns are deceived into thinking their activities do no harm. But Christ brings truth. And the deliverance of captives occurs when we pray for spiritual victory and act to free those in slavery and bring to justice those who seek to benefit from the destruction of others. "God, Take Action" offers hope that the "word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword." Heb 4:12a Let us be encouraged to be used of God to proclaim liberty to the captives and to recognize that prayer is the greatest weapon to attack evil and bring the love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ to everyone. "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." Ephesians 6:12 PAUL H. BOGE, AUTHOR, The True Story of Canadian Human Trafficking

Companion Bible Study for Ed Hird's Battle for the Soul of Canada

release date: Jan 18, 2017
Companion Bible Study for Ed Hird's Battle for the Soul of Canada
This Bible study, Seeking God''s Solution for a Spirit-Filled Canada, is divided into six sessions. Each session begins with an excerpt from Ed''s book that will stimulate your mind and encourage you to search deeper into the Bible. This Bible study will inspire you to listen to God, trust Christ, and follow His lead. Battle for the Soul of Canada is based on 1 and 2 Timothy, which focus on the Apostle Paul''s instructions to his young protege. The church at Ephesus was struggling with false teachings, and in these two letters Paul reminds Timothy that the Word of God is truth. Using the accompanying study will help your group discover how God can grow you to become leaders. Pastors and teachers are not the only ones intended to be leaders; many other Christians are called to leadership roles. We must continue to keep growing in our knowledge and love of God so that we can hear what He wants us to do. As Rev. Hird says, "Canada is a wonderful gift that is worth standing on guard for! How are we going to help keep Canada strong and free? Canada''s best hope is in raising up Timothys, the emerging generation of leaders. Our land of Canada is in a severe leadership crisis, particularly in the churches. As goes the churches, goes the soul of our nation." Each session in this study starts with a Scripture. The rest of the session is laid out under the headings: -Read Excerpted Chapter from Battle for the Soul of Canada by Ed Hird -Points to Ponder -Thoughts to Consider -Delve Deeper into the Bible -Brainstorming From Janis Cox: "While writing this study, I have learned much about Canadian history. I have investigated and examined Scripture and prayed for enlightenment. I pray that as your group studies the Scriptures, reads Ed''s chapters and answers the questions, the members will be inspired to become our new Canadian Timothys and Timotheas."

Can Education be Healing?

release date: Jan 01, 2009
Can Education be Healing?
"Previous research reveals that some women might pursue university education as a means to heal from experiences of violence, poverty, and trauma or to take control over aspects of their identity that have been sublimated by oppression and systemic inequities. This qualitative study explored eight women''s motivations for and experiences with education at a mid-sized university in Ontario. This study also explored the possibility that women might be motivated to pursue university education as a means to heal from experiences of violence, trauma, and gender subordination, and if so, whether this motivation was fulfilled. Finally, this study documented the institutional and personal supports that women found beneficial to their experiences as students."--abstract.
