Diese Schrift soll den Leser mit den Grundlagen der Gas-Chromatographie mit Kapillarsäulen vertraut machen. Wir werden kurz auf das Prinzip dieser Säulen eingehen, sie bezüglich Trennleistung und Analysengeschwindigkeit mit ge packten Säulen vergleichen sowie die instrumentellen Bedingungen fur ihre Anwendung diskutieren, ohne jedoch die theoretischen Grundlagen dieser Säulen erschöpfend zu behandeln. Der daran interessierte Leser sei dazu auf die zitierte Literatur oder die einschlägigen Bücher verwiesen; einige elementare Beziehungen sind jedoch insoweit angegeben als sie zur optimalen Anwendung dieser Säulen erforderlich sind. In den vergangenen Jahren ist die Literatur über Glaskapillarsäulen beträchtlich angewachsen. Da aber sowohl deren Anwendung als auch die theoretischen Grund lagen gleich sind wie die von Metallsäulen, gelten die Ausftihrungen in dieser Schrift natürlich gleichermaßen auch flir Glaskapillarsäulen. Einige spezielle Fragen bei der Verwendung von Glaskapillarsäulen ergeben sich bezüglich der Anschlüsse sowie der Dosiersysteme, auf die aber hier nicht eingegangen wird, da nach unserer Meinung die Dinge hier noch zu stark im Fluß sind, um solche Fragen in eine Einftihrung mitaufzunehmen. Die vorliegende Schrift ist die deutsche Übersetzung einer überarbeiteten Fassung "Open Tubular Columns- An Introduction", der englischen Originalausgabe veröffentlicht im Herbst 1973 von The Perkin-Eimer Corporation, Norwalk, Connecticut, U.S.A. In der Übersetzung wird die Bezeichnung "Kapillarsäulen" anstelle von "open tubular columns" verwendet, während die beiden Säulentypen als "Dünnfilmkapillaren" bzw. Dünnschichtkapillaren" bezeichnet werden entspre chend den englischen Ausdrücken "wall-coated open tubular (WCOT) columns" bzw. "support coated open tubular (SCOT) columns."

Mental illness has become increasingly prevalent among adolescents in the United States, with anxiety and depression occurring the most commonly. A growing literature has established that adolescents with more adverse childhood experiences (or ACEs) tend to have more disadvantaged mental health outcomes. Although there is significant state variation in the prevalence of both adolescent mental illness and childhood adversities, research has not yet investigated how state context (e.g., social policies, economic conditions) may modify the relationship between ACEs and adolescent mental health. Because of the functional support families receive from various state policies and economic features, adolescents residing in states with more generous social welfare policies and stronger economic conditions may be less likely to experience mental health problems, net of individual and family characteristics. This study investigates these relationships from a social-ecological perspective using the 2017/2018 National Survey of Children''s Health (NSCH), merged with state policy and economic data obtained from multiple sources (n=21,068 adolescents). Using multilevel logistic regression, a significant relationship was found between one state contextual indicator and the mental health of adolescent girls. Contrary to expectations, girls living in states with low levels of income inequality had higher odds of mental health problems than their counterparts in high-inequality states. Other measures of state context were not found to have significant effects on mental health for girls or boys. Finally, there was no evidence that state economic and policy context moderates the dose-response relationship between cumulative ACEs and adolescent mental health.

We describe how ethnic disparities in the labor market between prime aged Hispanic and non-Hispanic white men have evolved over the last 50 years. Using data from the March CPS, the Census, and the ACS, we examine several employment and earning outcomes. Hispanics have experienced sizable gains to employment: from a negative 2% prior to 1990 to a positive 4% after 2010 compared to non-Hispanics. In terms of earnings, Hispanics face a substantial negative disparity between 20% and 30% with some improvement after 2000. Most of the employment gain is driven by those with less than a high school degree, while the earnings disparity increases with education. Comparing Hispanic immigrants with natives reveals much of the employment and earnings gains are attributable to Hispanic immigrants, particularly immigrants not fluent in English.
