A Beautiful Thing

release date: Nov 14, 2021
A Beautiful Thing
What do we know about the women who travelled the stony roads of Galilee and Judea with Jesus? Actually not very much.. We know a handful of their names, such as Mary, the Mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene and Mary, the wife of Clopas, Martha and Mary of Bethany. Yet the women are present in the story of Jesus Christ''s life, and they are there for a reason. At the most critical times of His birth, crucifixion and His resurrection, the women are with Jesus, despite the risks of them being arrested, imprisoned or even killed. In ''A Beautiful Thing: Jesus and the Women Who Loved Him,'' we examine what is written about the women in the four Gospels of the New Testament, as well as what is not written but implied, against the backdrop of the laws, culture and religious practices of Jewish society in the 1st century. We seek answers to the following questions: Who were the women in the Gospels? What would their lives have been like? What might their back stories have been? In what ways did Jesus interact with the women? How did they with Him? What contributions did the women make to Jesus'' ministry? Were they significant? "A Beautiful Thing: Jesus and the Women Who Loved Him" depicts nine women whose lives were transformed by their belief in and love for Jesus Christ. Each chapter commences with a fictional short story about the featured woman and the events which shaped her life up to the time she meets Jesus. Following each story, there is a non-fictional section containing analysis and discussion points with relevant quotations from the New Testament.
