Victor Ernest Hoffman
Victor Ernest Hoffman: the Shell Lake Murderer In the early morning of August 15, 1967, the peaceful silence of rural Saskatchewan was shattered by an unthinkable act of violence. Victor Ernest Hoffman, driven by psychotic command hallucinations and a belief that he was battling demonic forces, entered the Peterson family farmhouse and murdered nine people, including six children. The only survivor was four-year-old Phyllis Peterson, spared by a killer who claimed she had "the face of an angel". This book meticulously reconstructs the "mechanics of mass murder" and the collective terror of the three-day manhunt that followed. Beyond the forensic details, it offers a profound analysis of the systemic failures that allowed a dangerous, untreated schizophrenic to be released into an unsupervised community with ready access to firearms. From the courtroom dilemma of prosecuting "the craziest man in Saskatchewan" to the lifelong resilience of survivor Phyllis Peterson and her sister Kathy, this narrative explores the enduring questions of mental illness, legal responsibility, and the fragile nature of safety in isolation. It is a haunting exploration of a community''s lost innocence and a family''s irretrievable loss

How Satan Fights

release date: Jan 01, 2014
How Satan Fights
How Satan Fights offers a unique military intelligence analysis of how Satan and his demonic army will wage war against mankind, using the same unclassified intelligence process that is used by the US Army''s military intelligence corps today. Author Mark Kelly is a Christian who served as a tactical intelligence officer for thirteen years; he now presents an investigation of the war from biblical times through today, providing a deeper knowledge of our enemy, Satan. He explains the combat strength of Satan''s demonic army, their arrangement on the battlefield, their political and military command structure, their strengths and weaknesses, and their mission on earth. With analysis based on information found in the Holy Scriptures, How Satan Fights considers what Satan intends to do with God if he wins the war. Kelly reveals Satan''s military doctrines and explores how he has used these doctrines from the time of Adam to the present day. More important, he demonstrates that Satan uses the same tactics of yesterday against the faithful Christians of today. Through this study, you can gain increased understanding of the war that Satan waged against Jesus and the apostles. This war is real, and it is being waged all around us. We must understand our enemy and his tactics if we, through the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, are to defeat him.

The Ranks of Men

release date: Jan 01, 2006
The Ranks of Men
"The Ranks of Men" is the story of the troubled relationship between two brothers, Shane and Conan. A childhood incident, whereby Conan allowed another boy beat up Shane, lies at the heart of their difficulties. Sitting in his armchair, drinking Wild Turkey at two in the afternoon, Shane looks out onto the green in his housing estate, and thinks about his life. The previous night, at his own birthday party, he saw his fiancee with another man, and did nothing about it. As the hours toll away and the bottle empties, he comes to see that there is little he can be proud of, that he is a coward, that his existence is worthless. He drinks mercilessly until he loses consciousness. Later that night, Conan finds him huddled asleep on his doorstep, and with palpable distaste, brings him inside and puts him to bed. Annoyed by his brother''s presence, and resenting the obligations of family, Conan nevertheless feels a guilty responsibility to him, and determines to remould his brother''s life into a more desirable shape. Conan selfishly encourages Shane to leave Ireland, and travel across America. While there Shane determines to accumulate the knowledge that will enable him to avoid confrontational situations in the future. He meets a beautiful girl, Geena, in New Orleans, and persuades her to accompany him. But self-doubt destabilises the relationship, and it falls apart when he cannot stop another man from crudely assaulting her, paralysed by fear. He joins the Marines in the hope that they will teach him how to fight, now believing that only violent beasts can survive in the world. But though he succeeds in transforming his nature, it comes at a terrible cost to both himself and his brother.
