Heir of Calvandrian

release date: Sep 08, 2023
Heir of Calvandrian
David and Robert grew up thinking that Calvandrian was a land of fairy tales. Neither of them knew that Robert was the heir to the throne, living in exile, on Earth. When thirteen-year-old Robert was abducted from his home on earth, his parents couldn''t tell anyone who the real abductors were. They knew it was the work of Varlusk, the man that had betrayed the king and taken over Calvandrian. Four years later, when the beasts, sent by Varlusk, returned for the now thirteen-year-old David, he couldn''t leave his father to fight them alone. During the fight, he ascended to the throne of Calvandrian. Now, with the possibility of his brother being dead, he has to return to Calvandrian in order to try to win back the throne. Robert struggles with his identity under the mind control of Varlusk, and when his family shows up, in Calvandrian, he doesn''t know what to believe. David struggles as he comes to grips with being the King and is the last hope of a struggling kingdom.

Strategy

Strategy
How does one engage in the study of strategy? Strategy: Context and Adaptation from Archidamus to Airpower argues that strategy is not just concerned with amassing knowledge; it is also about recognizing our imperfect understanding of the environment and respecting the complex nature of adaptation to the unforeseen or unexpected. In essence, the strongest strategists are those who commit to an education that cultivates a more holistic and adaptive way of thinking. With that thought in mind, the contributors to Strategy, each a current or former professor at the School of Advanced Air and Space Studies, widely considered the Department of Defense''s premier school of strategy, offer ways of thinking strategically about a variety of subject matters, from classical history to cyber power. Practitioners in the profession of arms, perhaps more than any other profession, must employ critical thinking where the application of power on land, at sea, in the air, and in space and cyberspace are concerned. Strategy examines various sub-disciplines regarding the use of power, and illuminates different approaches to thinking which have implications beyond the implementation of force.

The propagation of a spherical N wave in an absorbing medium and its diffraction by a circular aperture

The propagation of a spherical N wave in an absorbing medium and its diffraction by a circular aperture
The report investigates the effects of finite amplitude on the diffraction of a spherical N wave by a circular aperture. The investigation was to be carried out in the farfield of the aperture, i.e., where the incident and diffracted signals were not completely resolved. An experiment was done in which an N wave was produced by an electric spark. A condenser microphone received the acoustic signal, and an aperture in a rigid baffle was placed between the spark and the microphone. The preliminary investigations revealed that, in the farfield, absorptions as well as nonlinear distortion is important. A computer algorithm was developed in which the effects of nonlinear distortion and absorption are combined in a stepwise manner. To test the algorithm, it was used to predict the waveform of a propagating N wave. The predicted waveforms agree very favorably with experiment. (Modified author abstract).
