Unternehmensgründungen bilden einen wesentlichen Bestandteil des wirtschaftspolitischen Zielkataloges der österreichischen Bundesregierung wie auch der Wirtschaftspolitik der Europäischen Union. Speziell in Zeiten mit einer angespannten Arbeitsmarktlage hat das Potential neu gegründeter Betriebe, neben dem Arbeitsplatz des Gründers zusätzliche Arbeitsplätze bereitzustellen, besondere Bedeutung. Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit untersucht nach einem einführenden Überblick über Gründungs- und Entrepreneurship-Forschung Motive, die zur Gründung von Unternehmen führen. Hier gilt ein besonderes Augenmerk den Gründungen aus der ?Ökonomie der Not?, also erzwungener Selbständigkeit aus der Arbeitslosigkeit heraus. Für diese Gründungen mit scheinbar schlechten Startbedingungen werden Erfolgsstrategien und Voraussetzungen mit besonderem Augenmerk auf Aspekte einer strukturierten und systematischen Planung sowie Beratungs- und Fördermöglichkeiten, die ein nachhaltiges Überleben dieser Unternehmen ermöglichen, erarbeitet.
