Entsprechend der Reihengestaltung nehmen die Illustrationen einen breiten Raum ein, der Text verkommt häufig zur reinen Bildunterschrift. Die Rekonstruktionszeichnungen, Fotos und Abbildungen bekannter Kunstwerke (Mosaiken, Gemälde) sind sehr beeindruckend und detailreich. Meines Wissens bisher das zweite Werk über Alexander den Großen. Die Darstellung von P. Briant: 'Alexander, Eroberer der Welt' (BA 12/90) wendet sich an Jugendliche ab 14. Daher wird das vorliegende Buch allen (Schul-)Bibliotheken zusätzlich empfohlen.
