The object of this research project was to develop fire resistant hydraulic fluids which permit satisfactory operation in the temperature range of -65 to 500F, with the upper range extending to 650F. The projected use of this fluid is for the transfer of power in hydraulic devices especially those used in high performance craft operating under extreme conditions. Moreover, these systems have created the need for operational fluids resistant to chemical and oxidative attack. The extension of the operational temperature of 500F requires fire resistant fluids to diminish the compression ignition hazard of hydraulic systems.

All families primarily resided in Utah. Thomas Rhoades (1857-1931) married Martha (1862-1930), daughter of William James Powell and Mary Ann Simpson, in 1881. Their son, Thomas William Rhoades (1883-1957) married Ellen Salin. Fern Rhoades Smith was the daughter of Foster Rhoades and Myrtle Woods. She married Kenneth Smith in 1943. Henry Sudweeks (1815-1900), son of John and Elizabeth Martin Sudweeks was born in the Isle of Grain near Rochester, England. He married Sarah Sweet and came to Utah. Clara May Bunce Woods (1870-1941), daughter of Emma Sudweeks and Louis Bunce married James Bird Woods in 1891. Myrtle Elizabeth Perry Woods (1893-1962) was the daughter of Samuel Edgar and Elizabeth Nelson Perry. Maribah Minerva Woods Edwards, born 1869 was the daughter of Lyman L. Woods and Maribah Ann Bird. Jedediah Murkins Terry, born 1885 was the son of Thomas Sirls Terry and Hanna Louisa Leavitt.
