This trimester covers radical Christianity (definition and vision), higher standard, character, maturity, attitude and the way you think, controlling your tongue, stability, self-control, humility, selflessness/servant''s heart, hard work, taking responsibility for your life, vision (God''s heart for the world and missions), perseverance, and ministry for life.

What do we do as Followers of Christ, when circumstances careen out of control, and we no longer understand what is going on? As believers, how do we react when the confidence we have in our faith is shaken? What happens when our theology and what we believe about God is called into question in a moment''s time? How do we deal with situations that are so uncomfortable we can barely make sense of them? How can we possibly prepare ourselves for these moments? How do we develop the backbone of steel needed to take us through them? All too often when these things happen, people slide off the road of their faith and back into the world''s ways. They get mad at God and give up on Him. Their anger turns into resentment and even full-blown rebellion. What started as misunderstanding and deep hurt, ends up becoming the reason they turn to atheism or some other spiritual belief; five, ten, or twenty years later: circumstances they could not explain. A Far Better Outcome There is another possible outcome: resilience. It is the term we use when people bounce back from horrible experiences. Resilience is the grace to remain strong after going through something that almost breaks you. How do we find that resilience? How can we prepare to be resilient before life''s unexpected setbacks hit us in the face? That is what this Trimester is about. Together, we are about to explore the underpinnings of faith that lead us in one of two major directions: to give up or to be resilient.

This is a 12 week study, with something for the participant to do every day in their time with God. It includes discussion questions for the small group leaders to facilitate each week of growth in the participant''s life with God!

This is a daily devotional for the first 4 weeks after someone becomes a follower of Christ! It is interactive, and designed to be used with a group, so at the end of each week the small group leader has discussion questions (included) to lead the group through the week''s content and apply to their lives.

This is designed for an eager follower in who just became a Follower of Jesus. After the first 4 weeks, this 12 week "trimester" gives them something to do every day for 12 weeks, drawing them closer to Christ each day, helping them to interact with Him about important issues of growth. Athens County, Ohio, came out of the pioneer spirit of a new nation expanding westward after the Revolutionary War into the Northwest Territory. Upon declaration of the Northwest Ordinance of 1787, the Ohio Company of Associates bought millions of acres of land to sell to land-hungry easterners. In 1788, the first boat of new settlers arrived in Marietta, Ohio. By 1797, wars with the Native Americans had ended and more land became available. When they got here, settlers found some rich farmland, but more importantly they discovered salt, coal, clay and a need for industry to provide for the needs of the people. Opportunities abounded to make fortunes in other places from the resources readily available locally. Central to the development of Athens County was the vision people had years before the first settlers arrived; they dreamed of and made provisions for a university in the new territory. Today, more than 200 years later, Ohio University thrives in the city of Athens.
