Over the past twenty years our understanding of polymer solutions has undergone a dramatic evolution. New methods and concepts have extended the frontier of the theory from dilute solutions in which polymers move independently of each other, to concentrated solutions where many polymers entangle with each other. This book provides a comprehensive account of the modern theory for the dynamical properties of polymer solutions. This includes viscoelasticity, diffusion, dynamic light scattering and flow and electric birefringence. Nonlinear viscoelasticity is discussed in detail on the basis of molecular dynamical models. This is the final technical report from the National Research Center for Career and Technical Education''s (NRCCTE''s) five-year longitudinal study of South Carolina''s Personal Pathway to Success initiative, which was authorized by the state''s Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA) in 2005. NRCCTE-affiliated researchers at the National Dropout Prevention Center at Clemson University investigated the extent to which EEDA facilitated the creation of programs of study/career pathways and whether these programs led to improved student high school and postgraduation preparation and planning. The study followed two student cohorts from a sample of eight high schools from economically and culturally diverse regions of the state. To create a broader understanding of EEDA''s influence on schools, teachers, students, and the creation of programs of study (POS), various quantitative and qualitative data were collected and analyzed. Quantitative data included student outcome and survey data from the Classes of 2009 and 2011 and survey data from guidance personnel. Overall, researchers found that EEDA was having some positive impacts, including increasing career-focused activities at all schools and enhancing roles for guidance personnel. Surprisingly, schools with more challenging economic situations were more likely to embrace and fully implement programs of study/career pathways than schools with more resources. Researchers found mixed or contradictory results on associations between the development of programs of study/career pathways and student outcomes. The full technical report includes two technical appendices and recommendations for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers interested in transforming CTE--and future iterations of Perkins--through sector strategy-responsive collaborations between secondary, postsecondary, and business and systemic reforms of state policies and practices. The author of this work, Sam F. Hudson, was born 1 February 1893 in Sampson County, North Carolina. He married Mary Sue Woody of Person County, North Carolina in 1921. Reverend Hudson graduated from the Baptist Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in 1922 and served " ... in the ministry for more than fifty years ... in five states."--P. 82-83. In the forward the author states "I endeavor to give special attention to the Hudsons that came to Sampson County, North Carolina. But I shall attempt no family tree. The Hudson trees are so numerous as to become a forest. My effort is to find the root of the tree of which I am a branch. Because I am trying to trace the comings of the Hudsons to Sampson County, attention will be given mainly to the records of those in the eastern counties of the state, and I shall come no further than 1900."--Foreword. In the conclusion he states "The purpose of this work was to trace my family line back as far as I could. I have not tried to bring the record up later than 1900 ... "--P. 82.
