Raiders of the Lost Bark

release date: Apr 13, 2027
Raiders of the Lost Bark
In the latest installment of this beloved series, canine PI Chet bites off more than he can chew when he and human partner, Bernie, take on a cryptic case in the Arizona desert. The desert hides many secrets. The Little Detective Agency, consisting of Chet the dog and his human partner, Bernie Little, are good at digging up secrets—Chet especially—but now they face their most baffling case yet. Nothing in their career has prepared them for competing paleontologists, the viciousness of academic infighting, or the slow-motion wiliness of a giant desert tortoise long thought to be extinct. Chet and Bernie are about to be hired by Maya Lakey, a legendary paleontologist nearing the end of her career. But she never gets to tell them why. That's not something Chet and Bernie can live with so they start looking into Maya's life. Questions arise right away. Were two falls, many years apart and both ruled accidental, connected? Who paid for a clifftop safety fence and why? What does a non-speaking, dog-loving survivor know, and can Chet somehow learn what's in his memory? No one is making it easy for the duo. There's a rogue sheriff who knows more than she lets on, a retired cop with a collection of gleaming Porsches, and evidence of someone high up pulling the strings. In the middle of all this Bernie and his girlfriend Weatherly are trying to plan their wedding, and everyone is angling for an invite, including Dippy, a perp who specializes in stealing wedding cakes and holding them for ransom, and Robespierre, an ancient desert hippie who may have all the answers.

Join Chet the dog, "the most lovable narrator in all of fiction" (Boston Globe), and his human partner Bernie as they scramble to solve a case exposing the dark side of internet fame. Chet the dog is less than enthusiastic about the Little Detective Agency’s next case. Chet and his human partner, PI Bernie Little, have been hired to find a missing person—only the missing person is a cat. Miss Kitty, an internet sensation, has disappeared, and Chet and Bernie have been hired to find her before her many followers realize something is wrong. Miss Kitty belongs to Bitty, a sweet teenage girl who lives with her mom. Bitty and her mother are struggling financially, but the arrival of Miss Kitty and the chance discovery of her social media appeal has changed everything. Bitty now has sponsors, a high-powered agent, and all the tools needed to thrive online, and real money is flowing in. At least, it was. With Miss Kitty gone, the family''s income is on the line. The case presents a slew of challenges for Chet and Bernie. For one thing, a potential witness is a pig named Senor Piggy who may be in possession of an important piece of evidence. For another, it seems like a possible perp has been killed twice—and there''s evidence implicating Bernie in the crime.

release date: Jul 25, 2023
Mrs. Plansky's Revenge
Mrs. Plansky''s Revenge is bestselling author Spencer Quinn''s first novel in a new series since the meteoric launch of Chet and Bernie--introducing the irresistible and unforgettable Mrs. Plansky, in a story perfect for book clubs and commercial fiction readers. Mrs. Loretta Plansky, a recent widow in her seventies, is settling into retirement in Florida while dealing with her 98-year-old father and fielding requests for money from her beloved children and grandchildren. Thankfully, her new hip hasn’t changed her killer tennis game one bit. One night Mrs. Plansky is startled awake by a phone call from a voice claiming to be her grandson Will, who desperately needs ten thousand dollars to get out of a jam. Of course, Loretta obliges—after all, what are grandmothers for, even grandmothers who still haven’t gotten a simple “thank you” for a gift sent weeks ago. Not that she''s counting. First humiliated, then furious, Loretta Plansky refuses to be just another victim. It's a Wonderful Woof

It's a Wonderful Woof
INSTANT USA TODAY BESTSELLER Spencer Quinn''s It''s a Wonderful Woof presents a holiday adventure for Chet the dog, “the most lovable narrator in crime fiction” (Boston Globe), and his human partner, PI Bernie Little. Holiday time in the Valley, and in the holiday spirit—despite the dismal shape of the finances at the Little Detective Agency—Bernie refers a potential client to Victor Klovsky, a fellow private eye. It’s also true that the case—promising lots of online research but little action—doesn’t appeal to Bernie, while it seems perfect for Victor, who is not cut out for rough stuff. But Victor disappears in a rough-stuff way, and when he doesn’t show up at his mom’s to light the Hanukkah candles, she hires Chet and Bernie to find him. They soon discover that Victor’s client has also vanished. The trail leads to the ruins of a mission called Nuestra Señora de los Saguaros, dating back to the earliest Spanish explorers. Some very dangerous people are interested in the old mission. Does some dusty archive hold the secret of a previously unknown art treasure, possibly buried for centuries? What does the Flight into Egypt—when Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus fled Herod—have to do with saguaros, the Sonoran desert cactus? No one is better than Chet at nosing out buried secrets, but before he can, he and Bernie are forced to take flight themselves, chased through a Christmas Eve blizzard by a murderous foe who loves art all too much. At the Publisher''s request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

The Right Side

release date: Jun 27, 2017
The Right Side
In this "brilliant...deeply felt" (Stephen King) novel by the New York Times bestselling author of the Chet and Bernie mystery series, a deeply damaged female soldier home from the war in Afghanistan becomes obsessed with finding a missing girl, gains an unlikely ally in a stray dog, and encounters new perils beyond the combat zone. LeAnne Hogan went to Afghanistan as a rising star in the military, and came back a much lesser person, mentally and physically. Now missing an eye and with half her face badly scarred, she can barely remember the disastrous desert operation that almost killed her. She is confused, angry, and suspects the fault is hers, even though nobody will come out and say it. Shattered by one last blow—the sudden death of her hospital roommate, Marci—LeAnne finds herself on a fateful drive across the country, reflecting on her past and seeing no future. Her native land is now unfamiliar, recast in shadow by her one good eye, her damaged psyche, her weakened body. Arriving in the rain-soaked small town in Washington State that Marci called home, she makes a troubling discovery: Marci’s eight-year-old daughter has vanished. When a stray dog—a powerful, dark, unreadable creature, no one’s idea of a pet—seems to adopt LeAnne, a surprising connection is formed and something shifts inside her. As she becomes obsessed with finding Marci’s daughter, LeAnne and her inscrutable canine companion are drawn into danger as dark and menacing as her last Afghan mission. This time she has a strange but loyal fellow traveler protecting her blind side. Enthralling, suspenseful, and psychologically nuanced, The Right Side introduces one of the most unforgettable protagonists in modern fiction: isolated, broken, disillusioned—yet still seeking redemption and purpose. As Harlan Coben raves, this is "a great suspense novel, and so much more. You won''t forget the heroic LeAnne Hogan—and the same goes for her dog! Not to be missed."

The Sound and the Furry

The Sound and the Furry
In the sixth installment in the New York Times bestselling mystery series that the Los Angeles Times called “nothing short of masterful,” Chet and Bernie are handed a hard case in the Big Easy. Chet and Bernie, the best canine/human P.I. team in the business, encounter a prison work crew that includes Frenchie Boutette, an old pal they sent up the river. Frenchie begs Bernie to go find his brother Ralph, a reclusive inventor who has disappeared—along with his houseboat—from the bayou. Not long after, Bernie fends off a deadly attack from a member of a shadowy gang called the Q’s. The attacker dies without revealing anything. In bayou country, Chet and Bernie meet the no-good Boutette family and their ancient enemies, the maybe-even-worse Robideaus. At first it looks like Ralph’s disappearance is tied to a dispute between the two families over a load of stolen shrimp. But Chet turns up a buried clue that sends them in a new and dangerous direction involving the oil business. The more they find out about Ralph and what he knew, the less their chances of surviving to do anything about it. Now they’re up against Big Oil, shadowy black ops figures, and the Q’s—plus Iko, a legendary bayou gator with a big appetite… A top-notch addition to the “deliciously addictive” (Publishers Weekly) series, The Sound and the Furry is an irresistibly suspenseful and humorous read that will keep you begging for more.

The Iggy Chronicles, Volume One
Chet and Bernie—everybody’s favorite human-canine detective team—return in an e-original short story that gives Chet’s best friend Iggy his moment in the spotlight. Iggy is a dog who doesn’t get out much, so it’s big news when elderly Mr. Parsons knocks on Bernie’s door to say that Iggy has vanished. In the search for Iggy, Chet and Bernie find Mrs. Parsons unconscious on her bedroom floor, in need of urgent medical care. But it’s only when they arrive at the hospital that things get really interesting. With a jewel thief making short work of hospital patients’ valuables, it seems that Iggy is not alone in disappearing right out from under somebody’s nose. Suspects are plentiful and witnesses are few. But when little Iggy reappears, tail wagging, it turns out he holds the key to solving the entire affair. In addition to a clever caper and the return of much beloved characters, this gem of a short story is a testament to the enduring power of friendship in all its forms: neighbor to neighbor, man to dog, dog to dog. The Spencer Quinn Box Set #2

The Spencer Quinn Box Set #2
An eBook collection featuring the third and fourth novels in the irresistible New York Times bestselling mystery series featuring P.I. Bernie Little and his narrating sidekick Chet—“a canine Sam Spade full of joie de vivre” (Stephen King). Chet has smelled a lot of unusual things in his years as trusted companion and partner to Bernie, but nothing has prepared him for all the exotic scents he encounters in To Fetch a Thief, when an old-fashioned one-ring traveling circus comes to town. After Peanut, the headlining elephant, and her trainer go missing, the Little Detective Agency is hired to find out what has become of the duo. Soon Chet and Bernie are led south of the border in hot pursuit of some dangerously cool criminals and a decidedly uncooperative pachyderm. In The Dog Who Knew Too Much, Chet and Bernie take on the case of a boy who has vanished from a wilderness camp. The kid’s mother thinks her ex-husband snatched their son, but Chet’s always reliable nose leads Bernie in a new and dangerous direction. Meanwhile, matters at home get complicated when a stray puppy that looks suspiciously like Chet shows up. Affairs of the heart collide with a job that’s never been tougher, requiring our intrepid sleuths to trust each other even when circumstances—and a rival P.I.—conspire to keep them far apart.

Dog on It

release date: Jan 01, 2013
Dog on It
I could smell him - or rather the booze on his breath - before he even opened the door, but my sense of smell is pretty good, probably better than yours. So begins this fabulous, funny new detective novel featuring Bernie, a slightly down-at-heel PI; and his off sider, Chet, a dog - and the captivating narrator of the story. Chet may have flunked out of police school (I''d been the best leaper in K-9 class, which had led to all the trouble in a way I couldn''t remember exactly, although blood was involved), but he''s just as much a detective as Bernie - superior, sometimes, in his insight into human foibles. In Dog On It, their first adventure, Chet and Bernie investigate the disappearance of a teenage girl who may or may not have been kidnapped, but who''s definitely gotten herself mixed up with some very unsavoury characters.

The Dog Who Knew Too Much

release date: Sep 29, 2011
The Dog Who Knew Too Much
In THE DOG WHO KNEW TOO MUCH, Chet and Bernie attend a P.I. convention to try and make some new (and hopefully lucrative) connections. It''s the sort of thing Bernie hates, but he''s got to do something to get his business back on track. The head of a big international security company seems impressed with The Little Detective Agency and hires them for what appears to be an easy and well-paid assignment. Things take an unexpected turn and all sorts of trouble ensues. Tensions are further strained when a stray puppy who looks an awful lot like Chet turns up. So does Dylan McKnight, Suzie Sanchez''s former boyfriend. With Chet and Bernie both dealing with affairs of the heart at the same time they are facing an unexpectedly tricky case, it''s a good thing that our two intrepid investigators are looking out for each other-as they always do.

The Spencer Quinn Box Set #1

release date: May 31, 2011
The Spencer Quinn Box Set #1
An eBook collection featuring the first and second novels in the irresistible New York Times bestselling series featuring canine narrator Chet and his human Bernie—“the coolest human/pooch duo this side of Wallace and Gromit” (Kirkus Reviews). The Chet and Bernie mystery series belongs to the long tradition of two-buddy private eye stories, where one of the buddies is the narrator—for example, Holmes and Watson. The big difference here is that the narrating buddy is a dog, Chet by name. In Dog On It, he and his partner Bernie investigate the disappearance of a teenage girl who may or may not have been kidnapped. Bernie and Chet have both had some setbacks in life—Bernie in combat, Chet in K-9 school—but together they make up a team like no other in the literature of detection. Chet is full of heart, and occasionally mischief, but always intensely loyal to Bernie—and dedicated to unraveling the mysterious disappearance of a high school girl who seems to have gotten mixed up with some very dangerous characters. In Thereby Hangs a Tail, Bernie and Chet are called on to investigate threats made against an unlikely target—a pretty and pampered show dog named Princess. What seems like a lark of a case turns serious when Princess and her owner are abducted. To make matters worse, Bernie’s on-again off-again girlfriend, reporter Susie Sanchez, disappears too. When Chet is separated from Bernie, he’s on his own to put the pieces together, find his way home, and save the day.
