Steve Williams: How Dr. Death Became Dr. Life

release date: Feb 15, 2012
Steve Williams: How Dr. Death Became Dr. Life
"Dr. Death" Steve Williams was given a second chance. In the prime of his life, Steve was diagnosed with T-4 throat cancer. With God by his side, Steve overcame all odds and survived this deadly disease. Now, Steve is committed to giving his testimony to the people from the wrestling ring. As an athlete, Steve has "done it all." In 1978, he graduated from Lakewood High in Colorado. Recruited heavily by many major colleges, the star athlete eventually accepted an athletic scholarship to the University of Oklahoma. Steve is one of very few legitimate wrestlers to make the transition from the amateur ranks to the professional wrestling ring. While at the University of Oklahoma, he was a two-time Big Eight free-style wrestling champion. As a collegiate football player, he was also a two-time Big Eight champion. Under legendary coach Barry Switzer, Steve went to three major Orange Bowls, the Sun Bowl, and the Fiesta Bowl. He also played professional football as a defensive nose guard for the New Jersey Generals in the United States Football League (USFL). Because of his amateur wrestling background, Steve was generally regarded as one of the most dangerous "shooters" in the business. This tough reputation earned him the nickname "Dr. Death." For the past 20-plus years, he has worked for all major wrestling promotions throughout the world, including World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Steve has held numerous titles and received a plethora of accolades during his career. In 1985, he was named Most Improved Wrestler and First Runner-Up, Tag Team of the Year (with Ted DiBiase). One year later, he defeated the One Man Gang at the 21:43 mark in Houston, Texas, to become the winner of the $50,000 Pro Wrestling Illustrated/UWF Challenge Cup Tournament. In 1991, Steve and his partner, Terry Gordy, became the first American tag team to win All Japan''s annual tag-team tournament in consecutive years. Most recently, in 2003, Steve won the NWA Heavyweight title from Terry Taylor in China. Steve is also an Asian wrestling icon, for he is the only American who has ever worked for two major companies at the same time in Japan--New Japan and All Japan. release date: Nov 27, 2025
The Trails of Happy Horse
When Steve Williams lost his mother to cancer, his life shattered. Grief sent him on a path far from home—a road marked by homelessness, addiction, and the raw fight to survive. From sleeping under overpasses to hitchhiking across the country, Steve encountered strangers who became unexpected teachers: mystics, drifters, healers, and everyday people whose kindness and wisdom left lasting imprints on his soul. The Trails of a Happy Horse: My Spiritual Awakening is the true account of a young man’s journey through life’s darkest valleys toward the light of understanding and peace. Along the way, Steve learned to trust his inner voice, embrace the unknown, and see the road not just as a place of danger, but also as a source of beauty, connection, and spiritual awakening. Told with unflinching honesty and heartfelt vulnerability, this memoir is more than a survival story—it’s a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Through loss, hardship, and moments of grace, Steve reveals how even the deepest pain can lead to profound transformation. For readers drawn to true stories of courage, adventure, and self-discovery, The Trails of a Happy Horse offers an unforgettable ride—one that reminds us that hope can be found in the most unlikely places, and that every step, no matter how hard, can lead us closer to who we’re meant to be.

Business Intelligence Strategy and Big Data Analytics

Business Intelligence Strategy and Big Data Analytics
Business Intelligence Strategy and Big Data Analytics is written for business leaders, managers, and analysts - people who are involved with advancing the use of BI at their companies or who need to better understand what BI is and how it can be used to improve profitability. It is written from a general management perspective, and it draws on observations at 12 companies whose annual revenues range between $500 million and $20 billion. Over the past 15 years, my company has formulated vendor-neutral business-focused BI strategies and program execution plans in collaboration with manufacturers, distributors, retailers, logistics companies, insurers, investment companies, credit unions, and utilities, among others. It is through these experiences that we have validated business-driven BI strategy formulation methods and identified common enterprise BI program execution challenges. In recent years, terms like "big data and "big data analytics have been introduced into the business and technical lexicon. Upon close examination, the newer terminology is about the same thing that BI has always been about: analyzing the vast amounts of data that companies generate and/or purchase in the course of business as a means of improving profitability and competitiveness. Accordingly, we will use the terms BI and business intelligence throughout the book, and we will discuss the newer concepts like big data as appropriate. More broadly, the goal of this book is to share methods and observations that will help companies achieve BI success and thereby increase revenues, reduce costs, or both. - Provides ideas for improving the business performance of one''s company or business functions - Emphasizes proven, practical, step-by-step methods that readers can readily apply in their companies - Includes exercises and case studies with road-tested advice about formulating BI strategies and program plans
