Vuelta Skelter
Julian Berrendero''s victory in the 1941 Vuelta a Espana was an extraordinary exercise in sporting redemption: the Spanish cyclist had just spent 18 months in Franco''s concentration camps. Seventy nine years later, perennially over-ambitious cyclo-adventurer Tim Moore developed a fascination with Berrendero''s story, and having borrowed an old road bike with the great man''s name plastered all over it, set off to retrace the 4,409km route of his 1941 triumph - in the midst of a global pandemic

Relationship 2.0

release date: Jun 29, 2023
Relationship 2.0
When infidelity strikes a relationship, it can be one of the most devastating experiences that anyone can go through. I can tell you that it''s a journey of rebuilding trust and healing that takes time, effort and commitment, but that healing and rebuilding the relationship into a better, more loving and fulfilling one is entirely possible. While it''s true that the road to recovery can be difficult, it''s also possible to find trust again and rebuild your relationship. In this book, we''ll explore some of the steps that you can take to start the journey towards healing after infidelity. Whether you''re the one who was betrayed or the one who betrayed your partner, know that there is hope for a better future. This book focuses on the rebuild, the future and helping you move past the triggers, automatic negative thoughts and disempowering emotional states. While we can''t change the past, we can focus our attention on the future and creating the relationship you have always wanted and having it grow out of the ashes of the past actions. Open communication and honest conversations are vital in the journey of rebuilding trust. Unfortunately it''s often the lack of real communication that helped lead us to this point in the first place. Partners need to be willing to discuss what led to the infidelity, how they feel, and what they expect from each other moving forward. The infidelity is often just the final chapter in the story that led up to this situation.

Continental Drifter

Continental Drifter
They stuck their coaches on ride-on, ride off ferries, whisked through France and Italy moaning about garlic and rudeness, then bored the neighbours to death by having them all round to look at their holiday watercolours'' Many people associate the Grand Tour with the baggy shirted Byrons of its 19th century heyday, but someone had to do it first and Thomas Coryate, author of arguably the first piece of pure travel writing, CRUDITIES, was that man. Tim Moore travels through 45 cities in the steps of a larger-than-life Jacobean hero incidentally responsible for introducing forks to England and thus ending forever the days of the finger-lickin''-good drumstick hurlers of courts gone by. Coryate''s early 17th century bawdy anecdotes include being pelted with eggs, pursued by a knife wielding man in a turban and, finally, being vomited on copiously by a topless woman with a beer barrel on her head:- For once, Tim Moore has no trouble keeping up the modern-day side. And his authentic method of travel to replicate these adventures? A clapped-out pink Rolls Royce, of course.

Towards a Model of Evidence-informed Decision Making and Service Delivery

Towards a Model of Evidence-informed Decision Making and Service Delivery
The concept of ''implementation fidelity'' has arisen in recent years, in response to practitioners finding they not always getting the kind of results they would expect after adopting evidence-based programs and strategies. This paper reviews the nature and issues of evidence and implementation. It proposes that there are three types of implementation fidelity to be considered, and discusses the implications for practice. Accordingly, a nine-step evidence-based decision-making framework is also outlined.

Gironimo!

release date: May 07, 2015
Gironimo!
The author of the bestselling French Revolutions does Italy -- cycling the course of the 1914 Giro d''Italia on a wooden bike. On the eve of the Giro d''Italia''s 100th anniversary, Tim Moore sets out to cycle the route of the first race, all 3,162 km of it. On a 100-year-old bike. That he built himself. The Giro is arguably the most brutal of the Grand Tours, and it began in style. At midnight on May 24, 1914 eighty-one starters were waved off by 10,000 spectators for this first circuit of Italy. Two weeks later, after enduring cataclysmic storms, roads strewn with nails, even the loss of an eye by one competitor, eight cyclists finished. Tim hadn''t done any significant cycling for twelve years, but taking on the 1914 Giro was a compelling challenge. To make it more authentic, he decided to do it on a 1914 bike, which, unburdened by relevant experience, he needed to assemble from a stack of rusty parts in a Breton farmer''s barn. Fuelled by Chianti, wearing period leather goggles and a woollen cycling shirt, and with the winner of the 1914 Giro''s diary as his trusty companion, Tim sets off to tell the story of this historic race, as well as the travails of a middle-aged man cycling up a lot of mountains on a mainly wooden bicycle.

Being Safe and Feeling Safe

release date: Jan 01, 2015
Being Safe and Feeling Safe
The Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has commissioned a study into what children and young people experience and think about safety in institutional contexts. The first part of the study held 10 focus groups with 121 children and young people aged 4-18 years old in several states of Australia, and the second part involved an online survey of children and young people aged 10-18. This paper summarises key findings from part 1 of the study, regarding how children and young people conceptualise safety, what gives rise to these perceptions of safety, and issues in talking and listening to children and young people about safety. The full findings of part 1 were published by the Royal Commission in 2015 as ''Taking us seriously: children and young people talk about safety and institutional responses to their safety concerns''.
